We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesika Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jesika, what role has risk played in your life or career?
It’s in my nature to be spontaneous and be an independent thinker-go getter. I believe all the risks I have made in my life have taken me through a journey, phasing a lot of challenges, difficulties in my personal life, and probably fewer moments of success. Overall it has shaped me as an individual, matured at a early age, realizing in my 20’s that it wasn’t going to be easy and I would have to work really hard to build a platform for myself and let alone, by taking those particular ‘risks’, also remaining VERY faithful, listening to the voice within, would lead me to my higher-self.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am proud to say that I get to I do my own-part in helping and make a better difference to others. Being a closet designer and home organizer, I have learned to be present for others. Listen to them, learn their stories, and most typical scenario, if they are reaching out they are either, eager for change, wanting to better themselves/ surroundings. Needing the motive to conquer their personal goals for better & new beginnings. Each project is unpredictable, each time for me is a new way to think or do my job.
From every project I gain a new perspective. I am getting to do something I love to do, which is creating, designing, and the adventure within transforming a space. I organize homes and design closet spaces, started in Austin and now servicing DFW area.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a mother to a one-year old, business owner, and nowadays a thrifter in my free-time. Recently turned 3o, we went to Dallas / Design Destrict area, had dinner at El Bolero, their sopes were amazing! Then walked up the street into El Carlitos for a pretty cocktail, last stop at La Santa for dancing / celebration.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout those that supported me from the beginning. The strangers that became clients / friends and welcomed me into your homes, thank you. Lastly, I dedicate it to my son Maximo. I grew this business, meanwhile I was growing a life inside. You are my biggest inspiration to be my best version everyday, the vision behind each design. There aren’t words to express how much love and fulfillment you have filled within myself. I want you to be proud of the Mom you have by your side. But most of all, I want you to be brave and confident to look forward despise the circumstances, listen close to the voice within yourself, you can and will do amazing things. Mama believes in you and will always be your biggest fan.
