We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerry Mooty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerry, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think any brand is a representation of the people behind the brand. I strive to find the right people to create the right culture. I believe people are more successful if they enjoy other people that they work with so some of my success is tied to the people I have put in place and their interaction/production as whole to build a culture that represents success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My current and most recent focus is bringing @properties to Texas. @properties is the 8th largest brokerage (now the 6th with the acquisition of Christie’s International Real Estate) but did not have a presence in Texas yet. I was introduced to the co-founders in Chicago, and I was immediately impressed with the vision, culture, and proprietary technology to support real estate agents. Personally, I don’t think there is another comparable broker in the market and our growth is signaling I may be right.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Dallas is full of options, so the list is endless. But if I was in charge, I would always start the introduction to the city at Mi Cocina which is a fantastic Tex-Mex restaurant in core Dallas. My other mainstays for a week-long trip would be city staples such as Nick&Sam’s, Al Beirnet’s, Campisi’s, Javier’s, and one of my new favorites is Little Katana in the Knox/Henderson district. If the Cowboys season is going, then attending a game at AT&T stadium is a must.

Making the drive over to Ft. Worth is always fun to visit the stockyards with great restaurants and of course, Billy Bob’s, for some live country music. A lot of friends do this, stay the night at the Drover, and turn it into a staycation of sorts.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The credit for my success comes from my family’s belief in hard work. The steward of that in my life started with my grandfather, Pat Jones, and my mother, Jacque Jones Mooty. Both were instrumental in my belief that few attributes of a person are more important than work ethic. I also give credit to my two sons, who are now young men, because their support and belief through the years have been very important for me to take risks and be an entrepreneur. And last, but certainly not least, my beautiful wife Samantha. Without her support during the rocky times, I don’t think I would be where I am today.
