We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerome Anthony and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerome, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was, how do I get off of the hamster wheel and create financial freedom. I’ve always been a creative as far as art is concerned. Music, Graphic Design, Digital Art, Writing and the list goes on. I thought to myself, I should take all of my talents and create a business/platform for them to flourish. Then my next thought was how can I keep this rolling and turn it into something I could leave for my children. Once I got the ball rolling there was no turning back. Of course there’s hard days and sleepless nights but in the end it’s all worth it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art comes from life. My life’s experiences, ups, downs, and arounds shape my art into what it is. My emotions play a major part in my artistry. As an artist you have to have feelings and be aware of your surroundings. When you are a creative life doesn’t stop and it can be hard to find the space and the mental capacity to even create sometimes. You have to try and always stay positive and surround yourself with likeminded people. The point I’m at in my career now was a long journey to get to but every bump and bruise I endured on the way has made me a better person and businessman. When it’s all said and done I just want people to know that I was a good person who tries to change the world for the better through art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Deep Ellum to see all of the cool and quirky spots. Then I would just take them on a tour of the city and allow them to just take it all in. Also allow them to just freestyle and just enjoy the ambiance. Allow the city to come to them.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank and shout out all the people who believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself. I want to thank and shout out to the HIGHER POWER for giving me the drive and vision to take on such a task. I also would like to thank all the people who didn’t believe. Without them the motivation wouldn’t be as real. 💯
