Meet Jeremiah Woodard | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremiah Woodard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremiah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always been a creative person growing up. Really, I’ve always had an active imagination. Like when I was younger, I’d be outside playing sticks either roleplaying as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or reenacting one of my favorite parts from a video game. Even my dad had a walking stick that I would use sometimes and pretend that I was in the Marines doing drills. If I wasn’t doing any of that, I was most definitely drawing, reading fantasy books or books about space. I was that kid that would always sit in the back of the class and draw. So, I guess I always knew I wanted to do something in the creative field and here I am haha.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think I have improved over the years and I grow more and more proud of my work. I think what sets me apart from others is my ability to see the shot before I capture it. Walking around with my brother, the fact that he can take a picture of just about anything is crazy to me. In my head I’m like, “What are you taking a picture of?”, but it’s just a matter of perspective. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to take your camera everywhere you go, because you never know when you get that shot. What I want everyone to know about me is I’m learning and growing more and more each day so don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Everything isn’t going to be perfect, that’s the beauty of art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t really like leaving the house so probably a nice little chill session. Video games, snacks, music. But if I was in the mood to go out, Downtown Fort Worth. I’ve always loved going for events or just hanging. There’s so much to do there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my friends, my family, my lovely girlfriend and other photographers who enjoy my work. The main one, Tega, who has said that he really likes my work. It truly does mean a lot hearing from another photographer from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
