Hi Jerars, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“…All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” That quote keeps me grounded when I feel like everything around me is falling apart or things aren’t working the way I think they should. I look over the individual pieces of my life and I can see how it all worked together for this moment, for what I have been called to do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Reentry into society after incarceration is no small feat. With no direction, resources, or support, returning citizens are almost guaranteed to be re-incarcerated. We want to change that! Prison to Purpose seeks to be the support system for those in transition from prison back into their communities and into their purpose. We do this by offering a comprehensive 12 week workshop on personal development, life and job skills, and financial literacy! We offer a mentorship program where each of our participants have access to their own mentor to help them to navigate through various processes of integration. We offer a graduation ceremony for those successfully complete our workshop to give them a feeling of accomplishment and the confidence they need to thrive.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well the funny thing is, I’m not from TX. So, we would be googling and exploring together! Honestly, that sounds more exciting than having a preplanned itinerary of things that I’ve already seen and done! One place I would definitely have on the agenda is the Arlington Improv. I LOVE to laugh and when my best friend and I get together, the laughter never ends!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many individuals that deserve so much recognition! First, of course, is God and my family, without them, I am not. I want to shout out my amazing Board of Directors and volunteers who have jumped into this thing with me, with both feet! They are the ones that truly help keep this mission moving. And, lastly, the community leaders and friends that have advocated for us and allowed us to facilitate 4 successful workshops for our returning citizens. And, lastly, a shout out to those returning citizens, who trusted us to help them see a more successful future through our classes.
