Meet Jeny Pathak | Co-Founder, mayasdesiboutique

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeny Pathak and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeny, how does your business help the community?
mayasdesiboutique (MDB) in collaboration with the Hem Sarita Pathak Foundation (HSPF) has awarded Prakriti Pandey, a bone-marrow cancer survivor and an engineering student at the University of Texas Arlington with a $10,000 scholarship to alleviate her financial burden.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
mayasdesiboutique is a South Asian Fashion company and I take the most pride in availing size inclusive fashion outfits to people across the world. We celebrate diversity and have made outfits in sizes ranging from 28 (3XS) to 66. We work primarily with women and in the 5 years of business and in interacting with 25K plus clients, we have seen how harsh women are upon themselves. We have also learned from being in the fashion business that these industries profit from the insecurities of women. What sets mayasdesiboutique apart is that it is a safe space and we welcome people and diversity, in fact we celebrate it. We believe all humans are beautiful and we truly celebrate everyone. This is something we are extremely proud of.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the food scene in Dallas. When friends come over, we definitely will check out Chinatown and the Korean food scene. I also obsessed with the Nepali food scene and we will visit Irving Kebab and Curries and will spend the evening drinking chilled beers at the Hangout Restaurant and Sports Club.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to attribute my mother, who is also a co-founder of mayasdesiboutique for the success that we currently enjoy. I wouldn’t have dared to start the business if she hadn’t decided to invest in the company as well. She has been with me from the very start, from when we did pop up sales and client appointments from our garage to now shipping out products all across the world. I am extremely grateful for her vision, dedication and hard work, and her continuous support toward myself and the business. It is incredible to be able to work with my mom everyday.
