Meet Jennifer Loehding | Work/Life Strategist and Certified DreamBuilder Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Loehding and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
In life, we all seem to encounter that time when we must make a difficult decision. I am no exception. Several in the last ten years have been instrumental in my journey, some being significant decisions and some not so great. When I think of the single decision that was probably the most difficult for me, I go back to somewhere around 2015, when I had to let go of a position that I had with a global cosmetic company for over 15 years.
At the time of this decision, I was dealing with a rare nerve condition called Trigeminal Neuralgia that affects the nerves on the left side of my face. I had officially been diagnosed in 2012 and struggled the entire time before eventually deciding to take my health into my own hands. I was trying to operate a business that I had successfully built, maintain a position in the top 2% of this company, lead a team and be present in my three children’s lives. On top of that, I was taking care of a large customer base which was extremely important to me.
On the outside, it looked like it was all put together, but on the inside, I was dying. I was on the cusp of healing my body physically but still struggled to get a full grip on the condition. I was doing things to better my health, and I was slowly improving, but internally I felt challenged because I could not keep up with the demands of my role as a leader. I firmly believe that you can not lead where you will not go, and I felt I could not show my team how to be leaders when I couldn’t be at my best on a day-to-day basis.
I want to say it was an easy decision. No, it wasn’t. It took me right at six months, and one morning I woke up around 5 am, and I knew that today was the day I needed to let it go. I cried for a day, then I woke up the next day and knew I had made the right decision to allow myself to heal. I hung around in the company for another few years, with over 21 years in the same organization, and then I finally decided my time was up in 2021. I needed to move on.
That big decision was hard. People respected me in my role, I worked diligently to obtain it, and it was all I had known at the time, but when I look back upon it and know where I am today, I realize it was all part of the bigger plan. I learned much while there and am grateful for my experiences and growth, but I also know that it became the foundation for the work I am doing today. I no longer see it as a negative. I now realize it needed to happen for me to continue on my journey.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a work/life strategist and certified DreamBuilder coach with a background in business. What makes me different is that I integrate both business and life coaching into my practice. I built teams, led a sales force, and maintained a client base. When I successfully healed my body, I decided to go on a journey to heal my well-being, and that opened many doors for me. As a result, I became a certified DreamBuilder coach. So, I help entrepreneurs and professionals develop healthy strategies to improve their work and life harmony. As a result, productivity improves, and they gain confidence. They become better at decision-making, gain clarity, and find the peace they are craving.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I think we would probably head over to Frisco. There is so much to do over there. You can see the Star, which is the Dallas Cowboys Headquarters. If you decide you don’t want to take the tour, the area has plenty of restaurants. There is Comerica Center where the Texas Legends play. Lots of fun scenery in Frisco.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Over the years, many mentors, leaders, and people have come into my life. All of them have played a role in my journey. I couldn’t name them all, but I think the organization that has probably had the most profound influence on me would be my fellow girlfriends within the cosmetic company I was affiliated with for all those years. Although I am no longer a part of that community, I remain friends with many of those ladies I met in that organization, and as a result, I have been introduced to new friends within that company. They believed in me when I didn’t know I could be anything and gave me the strength to pursue my dreams. However, with that being said, I continue to network and meet incredible people in my journey. I am always open to learning more.
