We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Burggraf and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It actually began quite selfishly with the idea that owning a vacation home could be possible for our family and be funded by others. Our theory was that we could own the property without having to pay a mortgage. We learned very quickly that owning a Short Term Vacation Rental is not that simple! What started as a goal to create a space for our own family to share memories evolved into a passion to help others achieve the same thing! We noticed the lack of time and resources for many other families to get together, take a beat and enjoy each other all while having fun! We knew that this growing industry was for us! I am Landscape Designer by trade and a people pleaser by nature so the mix of creativity, entertainment and hospitality was right on target to me! Once we found the ideal location we were going full steam ahead and haven’t stopped since Spring of 2021!

What should our readers know about your business?
Our primary business is in offering properties for short term vacation rentals for anyone looking for a get away. Our first property is located on Cedar Creek Lake about an 1.5hrs from Dallas area with future plans to extend all over Texas. We truly believe in creating spaces families can be together and create memories. Our 3 bed, 2 bath home also includes a recreational space, a large outdoor patio with ample seating, outdoor firepit as well as a boat dock available for guests to use for their personal watercrafts! I think what sets us apart is not only our fantastic charming property but also our desire to create relationships in our community. We believe in bringing the dollars in so other local businesses can thrive as well! We’ve worked hard to create trust and believe we are only as strong as what we can offer the guest. When someone books with Triple H Retreat they get a load of local resources to tailor their stay for comfort and fun for the whole family!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first question I always get asked is ‘where can I rent a boat to check out the lake’. The nice thing is because of our local relationships we a have multiple Co.s that we offer to our guests to either take a private guided tour, a fishing excursion or just rent a boat for water play! There’s also a couple of eateries that I most def. suggest any guest of Triple H Retreat check out. There is Vernon’s Lakeside which is right on the water and sits next to Lou Lou’s a terrific frozen treats stand that you can also fill up the boat once you leave Vernon’s. There’s a local Candy Shop, a Texas Fresh Water Fishery where you can learn about the local fish in CCL as well as a couple of wineries and breweries just a short drive from THR. The thing that I love to do the most is just relax in the water and soak up the sun. Relaxing on the water is a must and is so easy to do at Triple H Retreat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am not one to jump right into deep water without knowing the best gear, perfect time of year to swim and who is joining me on the journey! I tip toe in while picking up all the necessary knowledge and guidance I can before going all in! Surprisingly this was incredibly fun and there is sooo much free education you can find to begin in real estate and hospitality! I started listening to podcasts, Thanks For Visiting was my favorite and was the catalysts to getting me going. Bigger Pockets was another fantastic resource which came with loads on online forums, videos, etc to binge on! I also have to thank Mellissa and Tony Fortner, of Allen, TX without their guidance and help we would not have been able to find our Heaven Slice on Cedar Creek Lake. They own 2 gorgeous properties on Cedar Creek Lake and have done an amazing job catering to large vacation groups and retreats. Tony was instrumental in leading us into the perfect property and keeping us on track with our goals! I’m also grateful he pushed me to absorb the ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki, philosophy which now after 2 reads rings in the back of my head when analyzing a financial situation in our expanding business. Also, my amazing partner, my husband Daniel Burggraf!
