Meet Jennifer Arizpe | Entrepreneur, Baker, Animal Rights Activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Arizpe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’ve always been about taking risks! You only live one life, it’s better to try something and fail, then wonder what could have been.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For the past 8 years I have run my own businesses. Starting with a salon, which I still have to this day. We then starter our non profit farm animal sanctuary. Arizpe Animal Sanctuary, where we provide a forever home to abused and neglected farm animals. I am very passionate about food and veganism.
I wanted to show Texas that vegan food can be just as good as anything else, and that you don’t have to miss out.
We also wanted to be inclusive and affordable. Just because it’s vegan, doesn’t mean it has to be expensive.
The hardest part has been juggling it all, and still spending time with family and self care.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would invite them to our animal sanctuary first off, so they can meet all the wonderful beings we provide a home to. Serve them our vegan tamales, cause we make the best in DFW haha.
There are so many good places to eat in DFW, like Spiral Diner, Planted Bakery.
A trip to the Denton community market.
Lavender ridge farms in Gainesville, where you can pick your own lavender , shop for plants and they have a cafe that also serves vegan food!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people in my life that deserve credit. My husband for always cheering me on and supporting me in every thing I do. As crazy as it might seem.
My family, they show up and support, they help run my businesses.
And our customers and followers. We wouldn’t have a business if it wasn’t for them.
