We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Symes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jen, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
To me success is reflected in my client’s experience. I strive to offer an elevated experience to each couple in which they feel that they are my one and only client. When I first started my business, I learned a very important truth about photography and it had nothing to do with technical aspects. I learned that no matter how perfectly executed an image may be, if the client did not enjoy the experience they would not like the image. I began then and there to provide each couple who trust me with capturing their most meaningful moments to ensure that their experience was of utmost priority along with the technical aspect of delivering a heart-stirring, beautiful gallery.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a fine art wedding photographer who uses both digital and medium format film in creating my art. It is my goal to create heart-stirring imagery to create cherished memories for my couples to be passed down for generations to come. I have learned that how you make someone feel in front of your lens is just as important as the beautiful imagery you produce.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my most favorite places to visit and have engagement sessions is the Arts District in Downtown Dallas. I love the Dallas view, the Winspear Opera House, the market lights along the sidewalk and the modern fountains surrounding the area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Being a member of a mentor group, Educate, Empower, Encourage has definitely been a huge support in my success. Founding members include Wendy Kay of Birds of a Feather Events based out of Dallas and Julie Bunkley and Courtney Wolf of Invision Events based out of Atlanta, GA.
