We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazzella McKeel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazzella, what’s the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along my journey has been the power of being self-aware. There has been so much value in truly learning who I am. When a person is self-aware they can be free to walk in purpose, on purpose. Being self-aware has caused me to be more emotionally intelligent which lends to greater communication and decision making skills. The journey of self-awareness is not an easy one, but it is most definitely worth it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I truly created my own lane when I started my business and became a Creative Branding and Lifestyle Photographer. I love creating super dope content for my clients. That excites me every single day! The beautiful thing about the art of photography is that you can be creative, yet intentional. With the vision of my clients in mind, I am still able to put my artistic spin on how we can achieve their vision. Nothing in life worth having comes easy. I believe we can overcome the challenges by being clear on our purpose. Knowing why you want to do something is the strength that can carry you through the challenges. I want the world to know that each person has a purpose and there are people waiting to receive what you have to give. My brand, Jazzella McKeel Photography, creates content that will bridge you to your people and your purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love museums and art so I would take them to all the museums in the city as well as do an art walk of the coolest murals. I love that Dallas is so cultured with the arts. Also, we would eat at most of the restaurants in Deep Ellum and Bishop Arts.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success begins with the vision that God has given to me. I also recognize that without the support of my family and friends, I wouldn’t be where I am. One book that has been impactful on my journey is Chase the Lion by Mark Batterson.
