Meet Jasmine & Vlad | Fashion Stylist and Portrait Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine & Vlad and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine & Vlad, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Just as anyone else, we believe taking risks can be frightening and difficult. However, we also strongly believe that taking risks is the biggest enabler for growth and opportunities in your life. We’ve never had a business before, so we were absolute newbies when it came to starting one, and to be honest, we still are! When we finally decided on a place for The Lightroom Studio, the starting cost for it was almost all our money, which was a big decision for us. Was our idea going to work out? According to our plans, it should, but for the first few weeks, we barely had any bookings. We were afraid that our estimations were wrong, and that our photography studio wasn’t going to make any money. Now, it’s different. Now, we have multiple bookings in one day and make a profit from it – something, we used to dream of having, and we never would have made it if it weren’t for taking that initial risk in investing in our studio space. For us, taking risks is a part of growth and a door to future opportunities and success.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Vlad: I am a headshot & portrait photographer. What sets me apart from others is my ability to connect with my clients. I’m excited to shoot new people. It’s not just a job for me. It’s an opportunity to tell a story that shows the best of every person who comes for a session. I like to dedicate plenty of time to my clients. I don’t limit my shoots with a strict time frame, which gives us the benefit of not being rushed. People sometimes aren’t aware of how interesting their lives are. I like to be a person who lets them see it from another angle. My best reward is when I am able to help people who are confused and shy from the start recognize how beautiful and unique they really are.
Jasmine: Aside from the studio I work as a personal stylist. What I believe sets me apart from others is my focus on slow fashion and sustainability. Rather than just helping clients buy more clothes for themselves, I aim to guide clients on how to shop their own closets and create more mindful purchasing habits which allow them to find timeless pieces that fit their personal style.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
SUNDAY: Breakfast at Three Egg Muffins in Lower Greenville | Picnic at White Rock Lake MONDAY: Natural Science Museum | Whataburger
TUESDAY: Curiosities Antique Shop | Dinner at Ichigoh Ramen Lounge in Deep Ellum
WEDNESDAY: Dallas Arboretum | Niwa Japanese BBQ
THURSDAY: Brunch at Parigi Restaurant | Central Market
FRIDAY: Emporium Pies | Walking around Bishop Arts District | Del Sur Tacos
SATURDAY: Dallas Farmers Market | Atlas Bar in Bishop Arts
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When we first opened The Lightroom Studio, we both had two different full-time jobs on top of it, and it was challenging for us to accommodate some bookings with our packed schedules. We felt exhausted trying to find people to watch bookings when we couldn’t. That’s when our friends stepped in. They helped us manage some of the first bookings we had when we weren’t able to. They encouraged us, and they believed in us. Their support truly helped our studio get its foot off the ground.
