We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasie Poindexter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has been a huge factor in my career and life. I moved from my small home town to Dallas, TX one week after graduating high school to follow my passion and attend beauty school. If I would’ve played it safe I may have never got the opportunities I have today. So I say, take the risk. You may never get where you want to be without it. No one becomes a millionaire by playing it safe!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hi, My name is Jasie Poindexter and I have been a licensed esthetician since 2019.

At the ripe age of 18, one week after graduating highschool I moved 4hrs from home to attend Ogle School of beauty. I graduated from Ogle two months early being the first in my class to complete the esthetics program.

I quickly decided I wanted to be a lash artist and got a job at Flirty Girl Lash Studio in Dallas. I was very new to lashing so I got hired as the receptionist. I had a goal in mind and nothing was stopping me, 3 months later I became a full time lash tech at Flirty Girl and continued to work my way through the Flirty Girl company. At the age of 20 I became the lead lash technician and manager of the Dallas location and then a few months later I was promoted to be over two salons the Dallas & Allen location. A few months after turning 21 I got the opportunity to travel the United States. I was going to take a break from the beauty industry but Flirty Girl had something else in mind, that is when I got the promotion to become a remote operations manager allowing me to train and hire creatives just like me while living on the road and seeing the most beautiful places.

I continued to work for Flirty Girl during that time and assisted in my locations rebranding process. During this time I learned so much about what it takes to be a business women, and let me tell you it is not easy! It takes dedication and hard work but what they say is true, if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life.

After two years of travel and working remote I decided it was time for me to create something of my own, so I packed my bags, quit my job and moved back to Texas to start Balanced Beauty.

None of this was easy, it took a lot of hard work, dedication and believing in myself undoubtedly. Every challenge that came I faced head on, continually educating and growing to fit the changes of this industry. I learned that when you follow your passion doors start to open for you in ways you’d never expect.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start my morning off at OddFellow in Bishop Arts that area is easily one of the coolest spots to in Dallas and OddFellow’s Chai Tea Latte is to die for!! I am a big outdoorsy girl so I would definitely recommend The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden as well as the Jade & Clover shop in Deep Ellum where you can craft your own little planter! Lunch at the Meddlesome Moth, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is beautiful. A great place for cute pictures! Last but not least the Movement climbing gym in Plano. Movement has the most welcoming staff and a wonderful set up for people of all ages!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, I would like to thank my mom for believing in me without question. She has always been my right hand there to help anytime I need it, along with my sister Alice who is actually the one who talked me into to attending beauty school in the first place. They have both instilled confidence into my life and my career and I will forever be grateful for the role they played in helping get me to where I am today.

I also want to give a shoutout to Ogle School of Beauty for their amazing teachers and staff. That school was my home away from home where I made friendships I will forever cherish and last but definitely not least, I want to thank my beautiful clients for continuing to support my dream every day.

Thank you ALL!
