We had the good fortune of connecting with Jarrell Blacknell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jarrell, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My risk taking started when i knew my current job would come to a end. I was working for Exxon-Mobil for 10 years, pretty much for nothing. At that moment I knew I would attempt to do my own thing. I was not going to let another job be in charge of my life, use me, then throw me to the side. Now keep in mind, I was making my own drinks a good 2 years before my job ended, so i always had my close friends telling me i needed to take it serious. So fast forward to August 2021 ( last month of work) I already had a business plan wrote, and research done for me to be able to immediately start the process. Currently im in talks with a commercial realtor to get my own location, which has been the hardest part. Im going on 7 months of looking for a location, so this is a risk in itself, but i refuse to give up. All will be well soon.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is HEAVY DAIQUIRIS 2GO LLC. I make the best drinks in DFW, and i dont think its close ( yes im claiming it). I think my creativity sets me apart from all the other’s i have seen. Im most proud about me simply taking the risk to not go back to getting a job, and getting my own commercial spot, which im still in the process of. I got to this point in my life because, i was previously employed by Exxon Mobil for 10 years, and we basically got kicked to the curb. After that point i knew i was not going to let a job dictate my livelihood. It has certainly not been easy, but you have to stay consistent. With me dealing with alcohol, its just naturally harder, but i know my products speak for itself, so once i get this location, i know the sky is the limit. For anyone looking to start your own business, dont be scared to take the risk. This is what seperates us from the others, whatever you want to do in life, go do it. Its plenty of lessons to learn, but my main thing would be to do your research, make sure you know everything you need to know about your business, the help will be scarce.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lol, I wouldnt be the best one to ask this question, Im very much a home body.

BUT if i had to take someone around, we will first go to a restaurant called Mezcales, its a hole in the wall location in the Lake Worth area, but will be the best margaritas you drink, and the price cannot be matched. Once the drinks are done, we have to take a ride to Hulen and go to Red Claws and get that seafood in our system. Its the DIY seafood , so you order what you want, they bring it in a sack with the spices you want, and you go to town. Im a simple guy. As far as entertainment, im useless in that department, im out the loop 🥴

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout of course goes to my immediate family. Also i want to give a shout out to all my friends & everyone in general who’s tried my drinks, and gave me positive feedback to keep going and to make this a real thing.
