We had the good fortune of connecting with Janell Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janell, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want my legacy to be an example of God’s faithfulness. He truly is my compass and without him none of what I am able to do would be possible. This life has many challenges and with the challenges I have faced, God has never left my side-as I continue on this journey I pray I am a reflection of the grace of the Lord. What I want people to remember about me is that I am loving, free spirited, God fearing, passionate, caring and a joy to be around. I want to leave everywhere I go better than I found it. People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. -Maya Angelou

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got to where I am professionally by not letting fear stop me. This was not easy, because back then naturally I would shy away from particular things out of not being certain of the outcome. So the journey to getting to the point of casting fear to the side and believing I belong in the same rooms as anyone else, took prayer, interpersonal development, belief, and realizing whats meant for me won’t pass me up. The lessons I have learned along the way have been to never ever give up. Keep knocking on that door and if that door isn’t the right door you are knocking on, go to the next one, until the right one that is meant for you opens. At a young age I have always been instilled with a nature to at least TRY. It’s not failing if you try…..it’s when you DON’T try that failure becomes the door you open. And most importantly, above all, put Jesus first in everything you do. Within that try, be sure to consult Him FIRST. He will always show and guide you to the path you are meant to be on, no matter how long it takes. The wait is worth it.

How I got to the place I am professionally has grown me in ways that I can only hope will leave an impact on this world. I want to continue to evolve in spaces that are new to me. Being able to overcome obstacles personally and professionally is how I am able to arrive as a better woman each day. So I want the world to know, who you see today, what my brand represents, who I am professionally and personally, is a reflection of every single aspect of my life- good, bad, ugly, indifferent- that it has brought me to this beautiful destination of empowerment, spiritual maturity, confidence and knowing exactly where my worth comes from, which is from the creator above.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the Frisco Star area. It’s definitely a place where you can have a great time and still be in a chill atmosphere. Also, Trinity Grove in Dallas has some great spots to eat. They even have fun games setup outside and TV’s if you want to catch a game. So if I were to make an itinerary for my friends and I for a fun week staycation this is how it would go:

-stay at Omni hotel Frisco Star location
-grab breakfast at Tupelo Honey in the star
-come back to the hotel, get massages, facials, all the spa activities
-hang out poolside on the rooftop
-go to lunch at Cane Rosso (one of the best pizza spots)
-galleria mall in Dallas for some shopping
-quigglys clay house for some pottery fun

There are SO many places in the Dallas area that are so fun with great vibes and people, one of them being World Springs! A very relaxing environment, so many options to choose from pool wise, saunas, Pilates classes, etc. literally just a whole experience on its own. Also, Chicken and Pickle…another great place to get active playing pickle ball and enjoy some yummy food!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out God, my husband, my family and the support of those that are apart of flourishing what I do! Without them I wouldn’t be who I am today. I am forever grateful for the community I have.
