Meet Janam Bhatt | Creative Entrepreneur & DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janam Bhatt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janam, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is consistency in delivering value while staying true to my vision. As a DJ and entrepreneur, I’ve built my brand by combining cultural authenticity with innovation—whether it’s through my DJ sets that blend South Asian and global sounds or the content I create. I stay committed to understanding my audience, refining my craft, and adapting to new opportunities while maintaining a strong work ethic.
Beyond that, relationship-building has been key. I actively seek advice and coaching from people I look up to, always asking questions and listening to those who have walked the path before me. Networking, collaborating with other creatives, and providing top-tier service have helped me grow organically. Success isn’t just about talent; it’s about showing up consistently, executing at a high level, and being willing to learn and pivot when needed.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been immersed in the event production industry from a young age, working with sound and lighting for shows and curating events since junior high. This early exposure helped me develop a unique perspective on creating experiences that truly engage and connect with people. Through my work, I get to meet incredible people, and every crowd is diverse, providing a new opportunity for growth each time. I’ve learned how to blend creativity with technical skills to bring ideas to life, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come in both the creative and professional aspects of my work.
However, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. There were plenty of obstacles along the way—particularly the balancing act of managing college, starting my career, and staying true to my passion for DJing. Finding time for both academics and building my corporate career while pushing myself creatively wasn’t always easy. There were moments of self-doubt, and I had to make tough decisions about where to invest my time and energy. But through it all, I’ve come to truly appreciate the journey. Overcoming these hurdles not only made me more resilient but also deepened my commitment to pursuing my passion. Each challenge reinforced the importance of staying focused on the bigger picture, and I’m grateful for how these experiences have shaped me both professionally and personally.
What I want the world to know about me is that I’m not just a DJ—I’m a creator who is always looking to innovate, inspire, and connect with others. My work reflects my passion for music, my culture, and the belief that art, in all its forms, has the power to bring people together. Through my journey, I’ve learned that following your passion can open up incredible opportunities, but it’s the support of those around you and a commitment to continuous growth that truly paves the way for success.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston is such a foodie city that picking just a few spots will be tough! We’d definitely be eating most of the time, but if I had to choose, I’d take my friend to Aga’s Restaurant for some amazing Indian and Pakistani favorite dishes. The flavors are always on point, and it’s a great place to experience authentic South Asian cuisine. Afterward, we’d head over to the Houston Natural Science Museum to explore some fascinating exhibits and learn something new. Then, we’d enjoy some time outdoors at Buffalo Bayou Park with a view of the stunning Houston skyline—especially around sunset.
And of course, no trip to Houston would be complete without stopping by Yoyo’s Hot Dog.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to a few key people and groups who have played a massive role in my journey. My passion for DJing began when I was 12 years old, and I was only able to pursue it with the incredible support of Yogi Goyal and my family. Yogi became a mentor who guided me through the early stages of my DJ career, helping me hone my skills and navigate the industry. His guidance was pivotal in shaping me into the DJ I am today, and working under KarmaDJs, one of the best South Asian wedding production companies, provided invaluable hands-on experience.
A huge thank you to the KarmaDJs family, where I’ve had the privilege to work with some of the most talented people in the industry. The team’s dedication, creativity, and passion for what we do inspire me every day. I’m grateful to be surrounded by such a talented group of individuals who continuously push me to elevate my craft and keep improving.
I also want to give a shoutout to the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, where the director and professors made a huge impact on me. The resources and mentorship I received there helped me refine my creative and entrepreneurial skills and gave me the confidence to take on new challenges.
A special thanks goes to my family, who supported me from a young age in pursuing my creative passion. Without their unwavering belief in me, I wouldn’t have been able to follow my dreams as a DJ. Their encouragement gave me the courage to keep going, no matter what challenges came my way.
And of course, a huge thank you to my close circle of friends — the ones who’ve supported me through the ups and downs, celebrated my successes, and kept me grounded.
