We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Nillas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The Filipino Student Association at the University of Texas at Dallas aims to create a community where we can bring people together and educate them about the Filipino culture. Our organization goals are also to give back to the community whether it be to create fun events for our members, collaborate with other organizations/businesses, or even donating back to the Philippines.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
UTD FSA has been working to promote Filipino culture in everything that we do. Through events, fundraisers, and collaborations we can give back to the Filipino community as well as welcome others to the culture. We are working to build up our organization with other fellow FSA’s and greater Filipino organizations in order to create a strong Filipino community within Texas.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
SSB – UTD Campus; this is where we go to hang out with other members!

HH – UTD Campus; this is where we hold our general meetings!

TeaTown – a local, family-owned Filipino restaurant/dessert cafe! Lots of delicious snacks and drinks 🙂

Inihaw Avenue Filipino Kitchen – a Filipino restaurant with AMAZING food

Jollibee – A Filipino fast food restaurant reminiscent of the Philippines
