Meet James Price: Entrepreneur transitioning into restraunteur

We had the good fortune of connecting with James Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
One of the biggest part of my thought process from the very beginning was being able to determine my altitude. Legacy was also very important to me. I wanted to make sure my children’s education was taken care of and that as they grew, they would have options later in life.  

What should our readers know about your business?
Nothing in business is easy. Perseverance and God is what got me through situations and the pitfalls of business. As a young black man growing up from humble beginnings, I want young kids to know that with hardwork and perseverance you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would bring them to DJ’s Steakhouse of Addison (the first and only black owned steakhouses in Dallas) for some mouthwatering food (with a twist of soul), then take them to Vinetti’s for live music and one of the best cigar lounges in the city. For an upscale night club experience with a Las Vegas vibe I’d take them to Jamie’s Rythm… and for some down home soul food I’d take them to South Dallas Cafe`.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first club that I owned alone, Lakeside, I acquired from Charles Bush of Houston. He was a great mentor and someone that I still talk to today as we navigate through this pandemic.
