Meet Jala Tryon | Loctician & Cosmetologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jala Tryon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jala, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business I don’t think I really knew that I would still be so determined, almost 5 years later. At the time I was just interested in learning about natural hair and all of its unique qualities that I dove head first into any and everything containing knowledge on the subject. It’s safe to say I haven’t looked up since.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Au’ Naturally which just means “All Naturally” is about feeling you’re most confident in your true, raw, unedited form. I’m a loctician and in the age of quick fixes/enhancements it takes a certain level of confidence to follow through with a natural hair/loc journey, so my goal with all of my clients is to help build and instill that confidence. I overcome challenges by facing them, one day at a time. Too much focus on yesterday or what might happen tomorrow will put anyone in freeze mode making it difficult to get anything done at all so it’s important to be able to ground & focus on the now. What I want the world to know about Au’ Naturally… the way to your most genuine beauty and confidence is optimal health and wellness. Nature provides what we need to build that long term and anything sold or used by Au’ Naturally reflects that and always will. Period.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooo this one is a little difficult because I’m not from here and feel like I’m still exploring myself. Dallas has a beautiful skyline/downtown area so we’d definitely be going anywhere near that area. I also really like the weather out here so just being outside on a nice day I’m sure would be great.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents, James & DaMonica Tryon. Hands down. The way that I was raised was to be confident in being my complete and whole self. My dad taught me the importance of consistency & finishing the things I start while my mama instilled the importance of faith, at a young age and w/o those traits there’s no way I could’ve gotten where I am so far. They probably have no idea, but they both have quotes that they have been saying to me my whole life that will literally play in my head right when I need it to. I hear it said in their voice too, it’s crazy.
