We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaie Tatum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business is a simple answer with plenty meaning behind it. Self-love. My thought process started with a self love and self care journey and will always continue on the same path with the hopes of others starting and continuing their own. I started my business with the concept of “I want to be my authentic self, express my authentic self fully and show others they can do the same.” I’ve been given this name of “Jaieboo da Heartbreaker” by many of my peers many years ago and it basically just stuck. Most people automatically hear the name and take it as something negative, but it’s actually very positive. I’ve always lived life for me and me only. I’ve done what makes me happy, what is best for me and always in a positive way. I’ve always been told that I am probably such a “heartbreaker” because I move with such positivity and charm that my energy is magnetic and it’s hard not to gravitate toward me, but I’m such a free spirit that I just might slip through your fingers! 😉 I want everyone to express themselves in a way that people just gravitate to them because they are doing the same thing, living positive and expressing themselves in the best and most comfortable way they can. When you look good, you feel good, right? I want everyone to feel comfortable, positive and happy everyday no matter how they look, how they present themselves, how they label themselves or don’t label themselves. I want them to live the JaieBoo way, true to themselves, authentic and happy!💔

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I hope to possibly have a storefront, have more well known names rather big or small wearing my brand, and hopefully getting my brand more involved in my community. I would love my brand to be at the size where I can sponsor smaller companies like I’ve been blessed by.
– My brand means being your most authentic you, being able to express yourself in the fullest form no matter how you present yourself.
– The meaning behind my logo is a nickname I got from people around me who think I’m a heartbreaker because of my charm when I’m really a selfless individual. I’ve always been called that, soo I figured why not make a brand of it. The name has followed me for a reason soo I’m making it something beneficial to myself and everyone around me who might be misunderstood.
– The motivation behind my clothing line is first and foremost God. When you feel like you have a calling, you have to go after it even if it takes you awhile to find out what it is. My son and loved ones are my biggest supporters and no matter what they always keep me going. I know I love being a positive influence of any sort soo I felt like this journey was perfect for me.
This Journey was definitely not easy I doubted myself a few times, my family and friends kept me going. The lesson I learned from this experience, dont give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where would I take my bestfriend? That’s actually a great question because she loves to explore just as much as I do and fun fact, she is usually ALWAYS cold like I am too! With that being said, we’d probably go anywhere outdoors or where there is outdoor seating! The warmer the better! Parks, museums, outdoor restaurants, coffee/matcha houses, etc! We’ve actually gone to Riviera Spa to do sensory deprivation floats in a salt tank (a must try if you’ve never done it.) Bowldega for some of the best acai bowls, XOXO Dining Room for great food and good Insta pics, and best of all La La Land Kind Cafe not only for the great drinks, but just the positive energy in the atmosphere. Dallas has so much to offer as a city that we’d probably need way more than a week to get the full experience, but if you’ve never heard of or gone to those places…definitely try them out! You’ll thank me later!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow…. shoutouts. This area here may be one that means the most to me. Most people go through immense trials and tribulations while starting a business and getting it off the ground, alone. When you start a business all your attention and energy goes into the business, it almost becomes your “child,” for lack of better terms and some people don’t understand that a lot of things tend to be pushed to the backburner like friends, relationships, etc when you’re so focused on your dream. Starting and running a business requires many many sacrifices but one thing I can say… is I’ve never gone through one thing alone. I have a large tribe of individuals who are and always have been so much more than a blessing and whom I’ll forever be grateful for and indebted to always. First and foremost, shoutout to the most high, God, for even giving me the strength and opportunity to be in the position I am right now and to always keep going.
Immediately after, the true best blessing God has ever given me, my son Jordan. He is the one I really do this for. He’s my biggest fan and I always want to be a role model for him so he can see he truly can do whatever he wants because mommy is proving to him every single day that he can.
Next, my family. I genuinely have an amazing support system in them. They’ve run my merch tables, managed my pop up shops, modeled my merch and have been hands on every step of the way with support beyond measure. If I’m not there, they are there for me and I cannot thank them enough for always having my back and never hesitating to be there for me in any and all ways possible.
Fourth, my bestfriend Spice. If it wasn’t for her and her always representing me and putting me in the limelight, I feel like there would be no “stage presence, influencer, or local celebrity” known as “JaieBoo.” She’s made sure that my face and name are known at every event, party, stage, show, etc! I love her for her constant support before JaieBoo was even JaieBoo, now and forever. She’s the definition of a rider.
Fifth, NuVysion Media! They’ve given me opportunities I’ve never even thought I could accomplish and have helped me grow not only as a name and host, but as an individual aside from all this “business.” They’ve believed in me, pushed me and saw in me what I couldn’t even see in myself and I’m genuinely grateful for it all. That’s really fam right there. I love y’all.
Sixth-If I could create a stronger word for bestest friend ,she is it , the person that put the uhhmp in my step Jypsy Jas, she literally put the JaieBoo da Heartbreaker logo on a tank top as a surprise to me and boom the clothing line was created , she believed in my brand and she gave me that hope to keep going , Love you Jypsyyyyyyyy,
Next ,Gotta give my guy Gary the Dj some cred, this guy put Jaieboo da Heartbreaker (Taking & Break’n Hearts) on radio podcasting which brought tons of views .
And last but never ever least, all my JaieBoo Da Heartbreaker fans and supporters. I truly would not be here without my following always showing up and showing out for me. From the listeners of my radio interviews, the interviews that have made it to Facebook Live with so many viewers, all the supporters who show up to all my shows and events religiously and all those who’ve spent their hard earned money on MY brand and MY merchandise… I’m truly honored.
