We had the good fortune of connecting with Jai Cannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jai, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
As a kid in the 90’s, I consumed an obnoxiously unhealthy amount of entertainment television and fashion magazines which took all my allowance every week. Fashion capitals like NYC, LA, Seoul, and Milan were places I could only dream of or see on television, especially coming from a small town in South Carolina.

There is something so magical that happens when a person feels confident in what they are wearing: I liken it to Beyoncé and Sasha Fierce… the feeling of creating that moment is intoxicating.

From an early age I learned two very important lessons from my entrepreneur father 1) Study your audience, lessen what they needed before they know what they want 2) Be the biggest asset your business has.

Even as an adult now, I still consume an obnoxiously unhealthy amount of fashion and entertainment news, but now I’m doing so in search of the best looks for my clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a recent transplant of the area, but I must say Dallas has quickly become one of my favorite places. I often use the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz to describe coming into the city especially downtown. To tell a friend the best places and spaces would do a disservice to so many, as the city has some of the most amazing restaurants tucked away in almost every building. However, if my girls are coming into town, we are for sure doing Felix Culpa and possibly SideBar afterward. For an epic Sunday brunch, I’m suggesting either Yard Bird, City Hall Bistro (the French toast is touched by an Angel). The art scene is starting to open more, and I am excited to get out experience it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s so easy to forget the people right beside you daily. The silent heroes are always there to support. My shout-out is to my amazing and supportive husband Amin. Not only are you an amazing partner, but you also support us with no complaints all while serving your country every day in the armed forces. My brand has morphed with me as We find our niche in this industry, and you have consistently been my biggest cheerleader and encourager.
