We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaël Roznicki and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaël, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important thing I have learned through the process, is to trust myself. Not to try and imitate or create out of “expectations” of others, but to truly express what I have within and let people react to that in the way they do. This has given me the most confidence in my unique work and the most clarity on what I am trying to create

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets my work apart is the passion and vibrancy they have. Most often that is the comment and I just watch people look at my pieces, take it all in and smile.

Holding your art out for people to judge, is extremely vulnerable and extremely rewarding. There really is no other feeling than to see a part of my emotional journey touch another person and bring them joy.

I am most proud that most of my collectors purchase more than one piece from me. I feel that the second piece is the real measure of how much they enjoy my art on their life and home.

It has not been easy, I am still Learning how to connect with more people and how to market to the right type of clients. I think I’ll always be Learning that but the key is to try things and if it doesn’t work, don’t give up , just try something else.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada. Our city is very culturally diverse and we have a lot of fantastic restaurants to explore. I would for sure want to take them to “Rockin’ Robins” dinner for the best home made pie and probably Rebel Restaurant for a nice dinner out. A good afternoon walk down Whyte Ave shops and pubs would be great. And as Canada’s largest “festival” city there is always something fun going on. But no trip to Alberta is complete unless you drive out to the Rocky Mountains, so I would day trip to Jasper and really wow them with our natural beauty.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The biggest push of support came from my daughter, who is truly and artists in every sense. She gave me the courage to try. Just try to put my works out to the public. Which gave me the boost I needed. My husband has been my continuous encouragement whisperer, even when I knew it was all out of bias. He has always said, I’m going to do amazing and the best words I’ve heard came from him, “ I’m so proud of you”
