We had the good fortune of connecting with Jade Birchmeier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jade, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
What inspired me to start my own business was my own personal health journey. As a young girl I had health issues that were “common” among young females but still not something I wanted to live with. When I sought out help, the answer was always a different medication. As I grew up my health issues like acne and painful periods turned into losing my period, extreme fatigue, bloating and gut issues.
As I sought out help I saw what was wrong with the health system and I also started to dig into the literature myself. I saw that practitioners weren’t looking at my whole health story, just pieces- just hormones, just diet, just blood work, etc. I also felt so alone, their job wasn’t to check in on me and to do follow up sessions to see how their protocol was going. Their job was to put me on a protocol and send me on my way. Through my journey I saw the need to support clients on their health journey, have check in sessions and help them make these changes into a lifestyle that is doable! I saw the need to look at the big picture with a client’s health- look at the health of their diet, lifestyle choices, look at their blood work, hormone levels, gut health and their symptoms from a root cause approach.
Through this journey I saw a huge opportunity to help people. Over the years I have gotten to learn from some amazing practitioners and help many inspiring and hard working clients reach their goals of no bloating and gut issues, regular menstrual cycles and lasting energy! So this year I branched out on my own and created Jade’s Wellness!
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my business this year officially in May. To go completely on my own financially was one of the scariest choices I have ever made, but it was so worth it. Through this time I was stressed beyond belief and just nervous at the uncertainty of it. So I created a mantra that I repeated to myself often, and still do whenever nerves hit me or I feel uncertain.
“Life is to short, stop holding back.” Opening an online business means that you have to put yourself out there on social media, and that is so uncomfortable at first. You think about what other people think of you and all the other insecurities that come along with it. But once you start doing it you realize the difference between you and any other person doing what you want to be doing is just that they are doing it. Nothing else. I realized I had the capability to be a star Nutritionist that helps clients with Energy, Hormone and Gut Issues. I just had to put myself out there, share my story and share how I have helped so many clients!
I am most excited to continue building up Jade’s Wellness in the Dallas area and becoming more known!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting I would start the morning off with a bike ride over to bishop arts via the bridge to get breakfast at Tribal cafe. My boyfriend and I have electric bikes and this is one of my favorite ways to start the morning out!
We would then grab coffee at brewed and pressed, they have organic coffee, matcha’s and superfood concoctions.
After that, the options are endless- a walk on katy trail with a stop at the ice house or even a boat day out on one of the lakes.
Dinner would be at my favorite restaurant Origin, they have quality meat, they don’t use seed oils and have the best food!
After that I would start the night out at happiest hour because I think the vibe is fun and it is outdoors!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people have really impacted my life to get to the place I am at. Here are a few people that are at the top of my list:
My family.
I come from a family of hardworking, outgoing, entrepreneurs that all inspire me to be better everyday.
My mom has always pushed me to believe in myself and try new things. She is always someone who I can count on being on my side and knowing what to do in tough situations. She drove me from Michigan to Colorado to tour the nutrition school that I ended up attending, so she really started my journey into health. She also has taught me to have the mindset to think outside the box, she is so intelligent and she always thinks for herself and has really taught me to be my own health advocate over the years.
My dad has always been someone I aspire to be like. He is passionate about his work and life. He is self employed and someone I can go to for anything- business and life. I don’t think he truly ever “works” because he loves what he does. That is something I really admire and frame my life around.
My big brothers, they show me tough love and what always having my back looks like. I know I can go to them about anything and they guide me to make the right choices. Not to mention they are both hard workers that have their own businesses. They inspire me constantly. If they dream it- they do it!
My boyfriend, Jerad Masse. I truly do not think I would be where I am without him. You need someone in your corner that truly lifts you up and builds your confidence. Having that in a partner is that much more powerful. He has pushed me to make goals in life and helped show me that I have the power and confidence to accomplish them.
Lastly, my little sister. Having someone that is younger and looks up to you is powerful because I want to show her that the opportunities are endless.
