We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, what makes you happy? Why?
I like making people happy. I’ve always had jobs where I had to help people in some capacity and I think that translates into who I am now. I’ve had so many ventures and all of them truly do take root in making people happy.

I like being there when other people don’t have anyone else because feeling alone is such a debilitating feeling at times.

It’s all love, all the time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Regarding my art I would say that my jewelry business is where I really started to tap into my deepest levels of creativity. I would eat, sleep, dream my business. I would envision pieces and do as much research as I needed to make sure it would become possible.

I feel that where I’ve gotten professionally to me means that I have support in no matter what I do. I have an amazing support system with some amazing friends that I always have support.

Even so, I tend to be extremely self-critical and I overcomplicate things at times. These times are the hardest, I don’t think anyone ever will be or can be as hard as I am on myself. During these times, I try and ground myself and remember that the only person that can ever change your life looks back at you when you look in the mirror.

One of my biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you’re only as strong as your weakest link and sometimes it’s hard to admit that the weakest link can sometimes be you. I’ve really learned to go back to my roots and retouch on what got me where I am today. Sometimes the best solution is the simplest one.

Regarding myself and my story, I think that people might be surprised to hear the whole story. I’ve seen a lot, lived a lot, done a lot. Even so, the one thing I’ve never done is give up. There’s always a silver lining. Even in the darkest of moments and lessons, there’s always something you can learn from it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Showing people new experiences is my specialty! I’d show them around to places like Andretti’s, Cidercade, Yellowtail, YO ranch steakhouse, Wonderbar, It’ll Do, Silo, Stereo Live.

I love music and the arts so I’d have to check and see if my friends over at Chaotic Good have an event going on, or my friend Mikey is at a popup. There’s so many creatives/entrepreneurs in Dallas that we would have something to do everyday.

I think one of my favorite things about DFW is that it doesn’t matter who you are or what activities you like, there’s something for everyone.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my mom, my brother, my friend Shalik, Mettro, Ajani, Mikey. Everyone of y’all has given me support that I can count on. Anyone close to me really. I can be a bit selective as to who I keep near and dear to me so, typically if you’re in my circle you’re someone who will call me out and keep me on the right path. I have love for everyone but if you’re someone in my circle you’re someone who I always want to keep around and I’ll do whatever I can to make sure you get the same level of support.
