Meet Jacklyn Del Olmo | Real Estate Agent & Marketing Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacklyn Del Olmo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacklyn, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision that contributed to my success was deciding that I was worthy of that success and that I truly had something to offer others.
In the early stages of building my business, I fell into the familiar trap most entrepreneurs do. I thought everything I did had to be perfect. I conjured up a million things that needed to get done before I could be taken seriously as a business woman. I needed the perfect logo, the perfect business card, and the perfect website to build a meaningful brand.
I realized I was hiding behind these tasks because it was easier to never actually start than to fail, or worse– have others see me as a fraud. If I didn’t believe I was good enough, how would anyone else?
I decided to shift my focus. I stopped wasting my time on trifling items and started pouring my energy into people: my clients, my peers, my mentors. What I ultimately realized is that done is better than perfect. A logo isn’t a brand. Your brand is you. It’s how you give to others and inspire them to give back to you.
I’m proud to say that most of my clients have gone on to refer me, and it wasn’t because I was the most experienced or had the fanciest website. It’s because I am unwavering in my commitment to provide value to everyone I interact with.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m in the business of people. What’s inherently unique about my business is that the product I’m selling is myself and my expertise. You’re not selling houses, you’re selling relationships. People have to trust you with what is likely the largest investment they will make in their life.
An oversight on my part can be catastrophic for my client. That responsibility is both weighing and rewarding at the same time.
In my previous career, I came from the world of education reform. To describe it in a nutshell: we took standard practices, modified or improved them, and drastically changed the quality of education for children. That was the work, and I am lucky enough to have advanced enough in that career to where I can now advise others on how to follow that same vision.
That laid the groundwork for how I approached the real estate process. I trained in the standard practice, then I decided where I could improve the experience, and ultimately make the process better for everyone involved. Building that system gave me the conviction to guide my clients with confidence knowing that what I was recommending was, in fact, what was in their best interest and not just telling them what they expected to hear.
What I have learned is that you will have to have difficult conversations, and there will be times where you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. At the end of the day, as long as you approach those situations with honesty, integrity, and as much grace as you can muster people will trust you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The thing I love the most about Dallas is that there is something for everyone. The city is bustling with nightlife and some of the best cuisine.
Starting with Downtown Dallas, you can’t go wrong with breakfast at BuzzBrews and endless mimosas. Take a stroll through the engineering marvel that is Klyde Warren Park and hit up the Perot Museum for some culture. Lunch at La Ventana is a must, but one of the local food trucks nearby is just as satisfying. Then top off the night at Happiest Hour with one of the best rooftop views.
Experience the upscale life in Uptown by shopping in West Village and taking your pups out to Mutts while enjoying a margarita and a burger from the patio. Go for a walk along the Katy Trail and hang for a minute at the Ice House. Later, at The Rustic get your fill of live music and ultimately venture out to the bar scene at Concrete Cowboy.
If you want to tap into your inner artist, explore Bishop Arts. Jonathon’s Diner makes some mean chicken and waffles. West Dallas has some of the best custom crafts for one-of-a-kind souvenirs. Trinity Groves offers one of the best landscape views of the Dallas skyline– perfect for pictures! If you cross the bridge you can take the elevator up to Reunion Tower for an aerial view of the city.
If you’re looking for fun with an edgy vibe, look no further than Deep Ellum. This neighborhood is a popular hotspot during the day with restaurants like Pecan Grove, Angry Dogs, and Serious Pizza. At night it transforms into a booming music scene with live music bars and speakeasys. To get the best tour, jump on an electric bike with In-City Wheels and sightsee in style.
If the city proves to be too much, take a drive out to the suburbs for some R&R. Take a dive into one of the many lakes in North Dallas, go fishing, jet skiing, or visit a winery and a spa. The opportunities are limitless. There’s Grandscape with concert venues, the Truck Yard, and game halls like Main Event. Right across the street, you’ll find The Star– the official headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys. A short drive away is the infamous Legacy West with unparalleled shopping and a food court that is sure to please even the pickiest eaters.
Whatever you’re in the mood for, you’re sure to find it in Dallas.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I’d like to dedicate this to my husband, David. Not only did he support me wholeheartedly when I decided to transition out of a traditional career, he genuinely believed I was capable of so much more than I ever dreamed of. His belief in me gave me the push I needed to jump. My family and friends, of course, for encouraging me and picking me up when things got tough. To the Fallen Stars, SEALS 10, and One Legacy Group at Monument, thank you for taking me in and becoming my work family in a new city. I wouldn’t be where I am today without these wonderful people in my life.
