We had the good fortune of connecting with Isha Gaines and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I am actually a huge risk taker and I didn’t realize it until other entrepreneurs started pointing it out and started asking me for advice on my personal philosophy on starting something new and just going for it. I realized that I always have a bright idea or an innovation or a new way to rework a current situation and I guess because I am so solution oriented sometimes taking a risk can be the answer to a problem that I may be having in my business. Whether it is the flow of income, whether it is retention of customers, whether it is rebranding, I am always looking for a solution, So it causes me to take risks more than average.
With my current venture I wanted to provide something that was essential to everyday living for a woman and so I am always in the mindset of how to make this product better, how to reach more women, how to communicate that this product will be good for certain Feminine issues. So I take a lot of risks with my new business venture because I for one want to be competitive and two I want people to know about the goodness that can come from herbs and plants.
Sometimes taking a risk is the answer that you need. Sometimes we solve our own problems subconsciously or intuitively and sometimes out of fear we don’t listen to what that solution may be. I think we’re taking a risk you get to explore possible solutions to a problem and sometimes it opens up doors unimaginable.
I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my entrepreneurship journey and taking risk has caused me to think outside the box to fix those problems it also teaches me what not to do on the next time. When it does come to my risk-taking Ive learned how to do things better and sometimes it positions me as an expert on certain avenues of entrepreneurship because I am willing to take a big leap to see where it goes. With risk-taking people have to know that it’s not going to always go well and you can’t be afraid to fail. you can’t be afraid to fail out loud because failing means that you’re trying. I’d rather take a risk and get it wrong rather than not take a risk at all and I always wonder if I did my best.I’m a teacher by trade for the past 11 years. By way of journalism, this launched me into photography, graphic design and entrepreneurship where I landed a position teaching photography at a high school. After starting therapy myself, I started to see the wellness themes laced through all of the things I care about, so I start sharing and building a life centered around wellness. I now strive to live at the highest level of peace, so I don’t stop until I have peace. If it doesn’t bring me peace I don’t do it, I don’t go, I don’t put my energy there, at all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d go get catfish and daiquiris, thrift, do a little workout, take a walk while wearing cute workout clothes and finding random little stores to buy trinkets at.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My therapist helped me get my thoughts and behaviors together. Literally the Best healing experience ever!
