We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabel Shrouder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isabel, what do you attribute your success to?
I think a couple of key factors for our success is our dedication to our community and our desire to make a positive change no matter how small. Also, our dedication to creating a product that is always improving in taste and creativity. My husband and I have always been ones to help other people or animals. This is something that truly fulfills us and keeps us humble. With our cookies we are able to do just that while fulfilling others sweet tooth. I believe our drive to make a change helps us to create so many different flavors and combinations that taste amazing! Some days when we have an event it does get challenging with a 2 year old and a 1 year old but then I think about the person/cause we are giving back to that month and it reminds me why I do this.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our cookies are unlike what you can buy at the grocery store or at a regular bakery for that matter. We strive to be unique and create flavor combinations that you could only dream of ( strawberry cheesecake stuffed churro cookie anyone?) Our cookies are giant at over 6 ounces each, that in itself sets us apart from your average chocolate chip cookie from the store. Another thing that sets us apart from other businesses and not just bakeries but from small businesses in general is that we use a portion or all of our proceeds to give back to a different cause or family each month. One month we were able to clear a wish-list for a 10 month old baby girl fighting brain cancer. Not just clear her list but we were able to give them a target gift card to get a new car seat for her trips, coffee gift card for mom, gas cards for the chemo trips and last but not least we were able to give mom and dad hope that they needed at that time in their lives. For thanksgiving we were able to provide over 180 meals for pets who found themselves in the shelter during the holiday. Our tasty treats have opened up doors not only for us but for those we have been able to help each month.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We recently moved to the DFW area so we really haven’t been out and about to check out all of the things to do. If we were to have friends in town then we would rely on the amazing Ft Worth Foodies Groups in the area to help lead the way to excitement and great eats.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! Haley Whitley, She was the owner of The Cake Shoppe in Bedford, TX. Haley was so gracious to provide us with an amazing opportunity to sell our product in her bakery. We did so well and we were able to get our name out to the community in a way we would not have been able to without this opportunity. Also my husband, as I mentioned before we have two littles ages 2 & 1, without his help I would not be able to do as much as I would like. He is my number one fan and he is the reason I have had so many amazing opportunities come to life with Do Goodies.
