We had the good fortune of connecting with iovany Galindo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi iovany, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Deciding to work for myself was hard. Not only the first but eveytime I decided to introduce a new service or invest into a new service I was always a self seconding guessing myself. The most important decision is find the right life partner. Someone that listens and believes in your ideas but will always critique your decisions in the correct way. Have someone that brings out your best qualities.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The reason I chose Other because not only am I Creator of content I’m also an Entrepreneur. Yes do art for yourself but I also use money as motivation.

I am a photographer and videographer but I am not the best at either one. I feel I’m a good photographer and good videographer but I stand out because I can do at the same time. And where I really shine is my story telling. I capture stories. Anything from capturing a wedding to a quinceañera to the process of an oilfield job.

I was in the mid 80s I know how to do face to face conversations and I love to work with my hands. I was a welder for 6 years before I was diagnosed with cancer. (But that’s a different story) but I can also work with computers, softwares and all techs. When I was little we didn’t have much money and my parents couldn’t buy a Discman (cd player) so my friends would give their old broken ones and I would take 2 broken ones and fix em into 1.

I was diagnosed with cancer 15 years ago when I was 25. During my chemo is when I started my art career. When back to school to get my graphic design degree. And that’s when I had to take a photography course and I was like this is pretty cool. So what sets me apart is I know how to live as if you were dieing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Okay so this question is a little confusing to me. Are my friends coming to my city? Which city? I currently live in Midland, Texas and New York City, New York.

I can re answer this question with a later if needed.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been in business for almost 15 years. I’ve been married and divorced and now engaged to the most important person in my life. Not only did I divorce from married I also divorced from a business partner. I remember during my divorce everyone would tell me that my business was going to fail and it almost was during the Covid situation. Then I met my fiancé someone that knew my passion, and what I could accomplished. She pushed me to not only bring my company back to make the most money I’ve ever made but open myself to other opportunities and job ventures.

I also read the 50 cent book (yes the rapper) he book is filled with so much motivation and entrepreneurial wisdom.

Steal like artist from Austin Kleon. This booked opened up my mindset as an artist and how it’s we all get inspired by other people’s work and that’s okay. As long as we transform our inspiration into our own.
My favorite quote from the book was “don’t wait to figure out who you are to get started”
