We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Imani, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe you need risk-taking in your life to accumulate self growth. Without risks, I am quite certain, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Taking risks has taken me from point A to point B. It is in the driver seat of the vehicle, while I sit passenger. I am always excited to see where we go! When I decided to move to Dallas, Texas, it was exactly two weeks away from my moving date. Talk about anxiety?! I was so nervous and things were happening so fast. “Am I really going to do this?” “Ok, maybe this is a mistake.” I had constant negative thoughts about my decision. I wasn’t so sure it would be right for me. “What will little ole me do in a big city like Dallas?” I thought. I always lived at home, I always knew how to get around without navigation, and I always knew majority of the people in my community, so starting completely over was scary to me. Moving out of state was something I’ve ever done before, which was the exact reason why I was going to do it. Now it’s been 2 whole years since I’ve moved from Baltimore, Maryland to Dallas, Texas and if I could sum it up into one word, It would be “Grateful”. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to even make this decision and actually go through with it. I’ve created some amazing memories, met some great people and continue to experience life some changing moments.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what sets me apart from others is my willingness to learn. I will never think I “know it all” or have it all together. If you follow me on any of my socials, you’ll know that I pride myself on being a student of life. I wake up everyday wanting to be better, wanting to know more and learn know more. I love that about myself. I definitely did not get here easily. I tell everyone! I have my days when I want to give up or when I want to be negative but It’s about going through those emotions, then growing through them. There’s always a lesson in every situation if you look closely. I am so excited to continue to grow with my supporters and to grow my amount of supporters. I am excited to learn ways that I can be better for myself and them. I know there’s people out there that need my expertise and skill set and I am already excited for their bright future. Sometimes all people need is a little push, a sprinkle of sunshine, happiness, or motivation! I want the world to know THEIMANICOLLINS, for her passion, her drive, her ability to listen to others and know exactly what is needed in order to grow mentally. I want the world to know that even though there is so much negativity going on in the world, if you are any way connected to me I will show you what positivity, happiness, and joy all looks like. I want the world to know that if there’s anyone that’s proud of you, it is me! Life isn’t always easy, but you wake everyday and try again! Take risks, move out of state, start a new journey if you ever feel stuck where you are! It’s what I did and it’s what I teach to all my people. The world is yours, go be great!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For Brunch we are going to Henry’s in Downtown Dallas, For lunch, we would take a stroll in Legacy West for good food, pretty scenery and atmosphere. For dinner we are dressing up and doing a fancy dinner at any of the 5 star restaurants in uptown. Perry’s, Moxies, XOXO, Reunion Tower, etc) Of course if COVID-19 is gone, we would hang out in deep ellum for drinks and maybe even walk around Downtown Dallas for the skyline. At some point I would take them to Kylde Warren Park to chat, take pictures and people watch. We’d also go touring some of the most beautiful million dollar homes in Dallas because how inspiring is that?! To end the week off I’d love to take them White Rock Lake, The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, and around the star.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to extend a HUGE shoutout to my family. Thank you all for being there with me every step of the way. Thank you for believing in me and continuing to push me to my highest potential. Thank you for your encouraging words when I forget the potential I hold within me. I don’t know where I would be without you. I am so grateful and honored that God chose me to be in you alls life. I am excited for the future as we continue to walk this journey together. I have so much in store and trust me, as I make it, you guys will too because without you there would be no me! I love my family. Thank you to all of the genuine people that I’ve met in Dallas that have welcomed me in with open arms, recommended a place/thing or even just been a friend to me. I needed that! Thank you to my lovely subscribers and supporters. I am so grateful that you are able to gain something from my move to Dallas and my overall content! I do what I do for you! Always remember that no matter what you want to accomplish, with the right mindset, YOU WILL! Last but not least, thank you to my now guardian angel, my beautiful grandmother; Paulette Collins. Grandma I miss you so much. I am still in disbelief that you are no longer (physically) here. I celebrate you everyday and the role you’ve played in my life. Thank you for your words, wisdom, and prayer. It’s what made into what I am today. I love you.
