Meet Holly Roberts: Wedding and Elopement Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Holly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was working the same job for 5 years, and was at the point where I was as far as I could get. I really didn’t enjoy life anymore. I was just surviving. Something in me clicked that made me realize that life is more than just surviving. And if I never try, well then I would regret that forever. And I didn’t want to ever feel that feeling.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand is less about the show and more about the story. There comes a point when planning a wedding where the focus tends to shift away from the couple and more so on the performance of It all. The point of my brand is to show couples that they can have just as incredible, if not more epic and adventurous of a day with an elopement or intimate wedding. I truly feel connected to those deeper and quieter moments with loved ones, and capturing those special moments in time for my couples means everything to me. And now with COVID, elopements and intimate weddings are paving a new route, a route that is extremely scenic!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love visiting Downtown Dallas and catching views at Trinity Overlook Park. Rent a bike or electric scooter and ride around to Kyle Warren Park to grab some food truck food for dinner. Another amazing food spot is Serious Pizza in Deep Ellum.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to dedicate my shout out to all of the photographers in the Dallas photog community that welcomed me with open arms. @cinphotos was my first friend in the whole community, and she really encouraged me so much for the very beginning. I wouldn’t be where I am without her.
