We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Caplan Confidence Coach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Holly Caplan, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I always knew that I wanted to start my own business. What my product or service would be was an unknown, until I realized I could draw from my own life experiences. So, I examined my professional evolution. It involved years in Corporate America and reaching a point of which I wanted to leave, but I wasn’t sure how to do it. I needed direction, courage, and confidence. Once I went through this process, I became aware that I could help others do the very same. I recognized this was an unmet need for professional individuals who desired change.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others that I have niched my coaching services. When I started my business I knew my intention was to help others in the workplace, but I found that my efforts and content were not specific enough. Over time, I was able to hone my skills and target clients based on where, how, and why confidence can be improved. This is what led me to one -on -one coaching and workshops.

It was not easy. It was exciting, creative and freeing, but not easy. I pushed myself to create content, market myself, and network. I had to balance the right amount of each of these to establish consistency and income.

The biggest lesson I have learned is that you don’t have to do it alone. It took me some time to break out of my stubborn mindset and reach out to others to help me with ideas, motivation, and overall support. You will find that people will want to help you, and that one day you can pay it forward to someone else.

I want people to know that I started this business because I realized that women need assistance as it pertains to confidence when it comes to starting their own businesses or advancing themselves in the workplace. As I rose through the ranks in my corporate career, I did not have someone to lead me or advise me. I want to make sure that I provide that to others through my coaching services.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would go down to the Bishops Arts District for shopping, and a donut, or two, from The Salty. I would add Main Street in Grapevine for some wine tasting and local shopping.
Lastly, I would take them out to the Star District in Frisco to show off our Cowboys facility, featured restaurants and shops!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my Shoutout to the Dream Team Women’s Network here in Dallas. I joined this group shortly after I started my business. Through their support I have been able to create meaningful personal and professional relationships that have assisted my success.
