We had the good fortune of connecting with Heaven Savior and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heaven, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
By the time I was Junior in high school I realized that I wanted to become an entrepreneur. My mother heavily influenced my decision because she was an entrepreneur as well, she built a landscaping business from the ground up to support us financially. As I grew up she taught me about how to become my own boss, but I just didn’t know what type of entrepreneur I wanted to be at that time. All I knew was that whatever business I decided to pursue had to go by three rules: I had to be passionate about what I put out to the public, the service must make customers look and feel beautiful at all times, and my business has to be in a high profitable market. When I had those three rules set it didn’t take me long to realize that I was destined to be apart of the beauty industry to become a nail technician.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Before starting my nail business in 2018, I learned about the fundamentals of being a nail technician, this ranged from customer service, inventory, sanitation, basic nail education, nail art/designs and health and safety standards. My senior year of high school is when I realized that even though I knew I could, I didn’t want to just go to cosmetology school and try to jumpstart my business without actually knowing about how to run a business. Personally, I’ve saw people from my hometown doing it that way and the results were not as successful as it could’ve been. I knew that I had to do something different if I wanted I wanted a different outcome and since I learned the fundamentals of being a nail technician I felt like I also needed to learn about the fundamentals of business, which led me to become a student at Prairie View A&M University. It’s definitely not easy doing what I’m trying to do, I’ve always said “it’s never easy doing something your passionate about, but you never find it hard either because its what you love to do”. The only challenge that I would say that I’ve faced throughout my journey as of now is being my own team. When you have as many creative ideas running around in your mind as I do, it would be great to have a business partner to help execute those ideas and bring them to life! I want the world to know that Heavenly Hands will not only be a beauty bar, but it’s also beauty safe haven for all.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m definitely all for beautiful scenery and I would have to take them downtown Fort Worth water and botanical gardens and also to SPARK in Dallas. I love to get a little creative, so we would take a trip to paint and sip in Arlington and for a night. I have so many food spots to choose from like the social house, Ol’ South Pancake House, 2020 Wings, Kinsley’s kones Ice cream and funnel cake parlor, Off the bone BBQ, etc.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to say thank you to all of my clients especially my PVAMU students for helping me grow into the entrepreneur that I am today. Every last one of y’all made my dream become a reality and honestly I couldn’t be more grateful!
