We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Caillier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After creating the Dear Hannah brand back in 2012 and thriving in the women’s and lifestyle category for ten years, I recently realized that there was a huge void in the fashion industry: the tween category. We had so many clients coming in and asking for our same trendy styles in smaller sizes to fit their daughters, so I knew I had to open another boutique with an entirely new concept catering to those tweens and young girls. And that’s how Dear Hannah Prep was born just a block and a half away from its big sister boutique, Dear Hannah.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I would say what sets us apart from other brands and companies is that we are constantly staying true to us! Our tag line is “we live in our own little world, it’s fun here!” And that could not be more true! Kids grow up rather “fast” now a days and what they like changes almost weekly. They look up to older siblings and peers and no longer want to wear the young styles that are offered in their sizes. That is where we came in and decided in order to fill this void, we needed to manufacture these styles they so badly want to wear…in their sizes! These looks are also unique because they reflect my own personal style and bring a fun and girly California feel to a space that’s dominated by traditional southern, boho style. I’ve never been afraid to be boldly different, and take pride in stepping outside of the box when it comes to carrying the latest trendy pieces other stores might think are too out there. Over the last 1o years in business we have been able to grow by simply just being us, giving our customers exactly what they want, and having a lot of fun along the way! Owning a high volume business is never easy, but always worth it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love living in Dallas! There are so many great spots and fun things to do. My perfect Dallas day would start at La La Land Kind Cafe with a Milk & Honey Latte and Avocado Toast. Then, we’d head over to Highland Park Village for some afternoon shopping. While we’re there, we would totally grab lunch at Bird Bakery–I love their tarragon chicken salad sandwich. After lunch, we could do a workout class at SoulCycle before it’s time to get ready for dinner at Nobu. The Matteo roll is a Dallas exclusive and so good––definitely recommend. Finally, my perfect Dallas day would end with a nightcap at The Mansion Bar sipping french martinis.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d definitely say my parents. I grew up watching them build their company, and this really instilled a strong work ethic in me from a young age and inspired me to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams and start my own business and brand one day. In turn, I strive to do the same for my son, Huntley, and would love to see him follow in my footsteps when he gets older.
