We had the good fortune of connecting with Haleigh Walker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haleigh, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to be in a creative field because I couldn’t picture myself in a normal 9-5 office job. I like the fast paced environment of a salon, and each day is completely different. It’s nice (sometimes taxing, ha) to spend a few hours with someone while you do their hair, and hear their take on life. I joke It’s like going to life college, every day I make Someone feel good about their appearance while I get a different perspective on life, advice or just listening to their story.

What should our readers know about your business?
Im renting a chair at Mane salon. It is the brain child of two of my closest friends, Bri hight and Shandy bowman. We all met years ago when we were starting out in the salon world, and ironically the location of Mane is actually the very same salon we all met at – just now under their ownership. Working in this industry definitely has its ups and downs, that many creative personalities in one place is sometimes like herding kittens to get everyone to get along, or work Cohesively. I’m very fortunate now that I work with such a great group of people. We all are able to support each other, take continuing education classes, as well as vacations together. We’ all bring different skills to the table, and going to work feels like hanging out with friends.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting I have a few places in mind I’d take them. Definitely a day in bishop arts because I love how walkable It is. Some of my Favorite spots are go easy, urban owl, or we are 1976 for some retail “treat” therapy, and end at atlas for some cocktails in a dark vampy style bar.

A new spot / hidden gem restaurant Id put at top of the list to is Cry wolf in East dallas. The interior is eccentric and quirky, and the menu is definitely for the adventurous, and will not disappoint! (nor will the cocktails)

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad definitely played a big role in why I’m the way that I am. He originally wasn’t thrilled about me wanting to be a hairdresser, he had a plan for me to be a radiologist, and work for a friend of his. He did however always encourage my creativity, and instilled a strong worth ethic in me. He was the type of person that could talk to anyone, at any given moment, and have them laughing. A trait I’d like to think was passed down to me.
