We had the good fortune of connecting with Haleigh Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haleigh, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Trailhead Counseling DFW has been successful because of my commitment to stick to my values and vision for the business. I created a unique counseling space that combined both my passions for mental health and running and have believed the need for such a space existed. Prior to opening the business I sat down and wrote out a list of values and how what I wanted the business to reflect and have stuck with those values and voice and believed that if I keep showing up authentically then I will see success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Trailhead Counseling DFW is a space for runners to explore the intersection of their minds and running. At Trailhead Counseling DFW, we are working to help runners understand that to run their best and live their fullest, they must take care of themselves emotionally. Often runners are heard saying, “running is my therapy,” but we believe that the best runners understand that running is only a tool for mental wellbeing and not a substitute for actual mental health care. Studies show that runners are at a higher risk than the general population for mental health struggles such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse; and that often running can be used as a way to avoid addressing these issues. We want to help bring awareness, education, and healing to the running community by providing a space that runners feel understood and like their running goals are important.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was visiting the area I would definitely take them to check out some of the local trails! Knobhills, Northshore, and Horseshoe Trails are a few of my favorites! If it was summer time we would hit up Goober Bubs farm to pick fresh strawberries and blackberries! Brunch would be at Our Brunch Spot in Keller to grab some great pancakes! Dinner at Thai Monkey in Downtown Roanoke for some amazing curry! And checking at Trailhead Running Supply for all the latest trail gear!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank husband, Jonathan, for his unwavering support both emotionally and financially, that has always allowed me the freedom and privilege to chase my wildest dreams. Another thank you to my counselor Adrienne, who 10yrs ago helped me overcome my own eating disorder, find my worth outside of running, and cast the vision that I could be a counselor. 10yrs later and she is still helping keep me grounded, find my voice, and show up as authentically me.
