Meet Gwen Miller | Executive Director of Alive at Last

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gwen Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gwen, how does your business help the community?
I am the Executive Director of Alive at Last. We help women and children who have been victims of trafficking and exploitation live free and discover their life purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been working in the non-profit sector for over 30 years. I have been the Executive Director of Alive at Last for 5 years. It is so rewarding to facilitate life-change for the vulnerable and broken. I see great value in meeting people where they are and giving them hope for where they can be. It is so rewarding to give people tools for life that will work for anyone anywhere.
I am where I am today because of key connections. I make daily prayer and meditation a practice. So daily connection with God is my #1 priority. Secondly, I love following great men and women who are changing the world. It takes the limits off my thinking.
I don’t think anything in life is easy. Working out and eating right is hard. But having a weak body with little energy is also hard. So I think about choosing what will bring the greatest outcome in my life. Doing hard things to bring about the greater good is what its all about for me.
We can always be learning and growing to become the best version of ourselves.Anyone can impact the world around them for the better. If we are not looking for ways to do good then we do not have grounds for complaining.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Dallas/Fort Worth area has great cuisine options.
However, my home in the country with a home cooked meal would be my choice for entertaining. With our wooded lot with Miniature Texas Longhorns grazing in the pasture, spacious vacant suites upstairs, anyone could enjoy this peaceful get away.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dream Big by Terri Savelle Foy and other works by authors Joel Osteen have marked my life and motivated me to be a world changer.
My husband has always cheered me on as a leader.
