We had the good fortune of connecting with Gracyn Herman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gracyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business has been a lifelong dream of mine. As a 16-year-old, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in fashion, and that dream only intensified as I grew older. I went on to study Fashion Merchandising in college, which provided me with a solid foundation and prepared me for the challenges of entrepreneurship.

For me, owning a business represents freedom – the freedom to make my own decisions, be my own boss, and express my creativity without limits. I view Ada Gray Boutique as a creative outlet, not just a job. My goal is to provide women with trendy, affordable, and high-quality clothing that makes them feel confident and excited about their wardrobe.

I identified a gap in the women’s clothing market, where trendy pieces often compromised on quality, and high-quality clothing came with a hefty price tag. I’m committed to filling that gap by curating a collection of stylish and affordable pieces that cater to every event and occasion in a woman’s life. As someone who’s experienced the frustration of endless browsing and searching, I’m proud to offer Ada Gray Boutique as a one-stop destination for women seeking effortless style and versatility.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Welcome to Ada Gray Boutique, my passion project that’s been years in the making. As a small business owner, I’ve learned to navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, and I’m proud to share my story with you.

Our journey began with a launch date set for March 20th, 2020, but fate had other plans. Just five days before our debut, the world shut down due to the pandemic. Despite the uncertainty, we decided to launch anyway, and the response was overwhelming. Our launch day was a huge success, but we quickly realized that we needed to adapt to the new reality.

That’s when I learned the importance of being adaptable and embracing change. We had to pivot our product offerings and inventory to match the changing needs of our customers. It wasn’t easy, but we persevered, and it’s a testament to our resilience.

As I look back, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished. Ada Gray Boutique is more than just a business – it’s a labor of love. My mom and I are the dynamic duo behind the brand, handling everything from buying inventory to photoshoots, website updates, and social media management.

I want the world to know that when you shop small with us, you’re supporting a dream that’s been years in the making. You’re not just buying clothes; you’re becoming part of our story. Our heart and soul are poured into every aspect of the business, and we’re committed to providing exceptional service and quality products.

So, what sets us apart? It’s our passion, dedication, and commitment to excellence. We’re not just a business; we’re a family, and we invite you to join us on this journey. Thank you for choosing Ada Gray Boutique, and I look forward to dressing you for life’s special occasions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m obsessed with Dallas, and I’m not alone! My best friend and I are so passionate about our city that we started a TikTok account, @gracynandmary, where we share our favorite things to do, eat, and explore in Dallas.

If my best friend were visiting, I’d plan an unforgettable week-long itinerary. We’d kick off the adventure on Knox Street, browsing through the trendy boutiques and shops. For dinner, we’d head to Mister Charles, one of my go-to spots.

Next, we’d embark on a bar-hopping adventure in Lower Greenville, stopping by HG Supply, Alamo Club, and other local favorites. If we’re feeling fancy, we’d swing by the Mansion Hotel Bar in Oak Lawn for a sophisticated cocktail experience.

As a sports enthusiast, I’d take my friend to a Rangers game at Globe Life Park, followed by a lively evening at Texas Live. To wrap up the visit in style, we’d indulge in afternoon tea at the exquisite French Room, followed by a rejuvenating spa day at The Joule.

Dallas truly has something for everyone, from incredible restaurants and shopping to exciting events and activities. I’m so proud to call this city home, and I know my friend would fall in love with it just like I have.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents, who have been my rock and biggest supporters every step of the way. From a young age, they encouraged me to chase my dreams and never settle for anything less. They instilled in me a love for learning and pushed me to absorb as much knowledge as possible, a mindset that has stayed with me to this day.

What’s more, my mom took her support to the next level by becoming my business partner. Her unwavering belief in me and my vision for Ada Gray Boutique has been a constant source of motivation. She’s been an invaluable sounding board, always challenging me to think outside the box and innovate. Having her by my side has made all the difference in getting Ada Gray off the ground.

I’m grateful to have parents who believe in my dream as much as I do. Their unwavering support and encouragement have given me the courage to take risks and pursue my passion. I couldn’t have asked for a better team behind me, and I’m so thankful to have them in my life.
