Meet Giselle Arieu | Owner at Culture Kids- Spanish in Motion

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giselle Arieu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Giselle, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a mom of four (12, 13, 14, and 15) and the owner of Culture Kids Spanish in Motion, I’d say the most impactful thing I’ve done as a parent is raising my kids bilingual.
It’s not just about speaking two languages—it’s about giving them the ability to connect with more people, think in more flexible ways, and carry an extra layer of confidence and cultural awareness. In today’s world, being bilingual is such a competitive advantage, and I see every day how it shapes their opportunities and perspectives.
For me, it’s been a gift that goes far beyond the classroom—it opens doors to friendships, travel, work, and truly seeing the world with wider eyes.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder of Culture Kids Spanish in Motion, a Spanish learning program for children aged 2–15 that combines language acquisition with cultural exploration, literacy, and math skills. What sets us apart is that we don’t just teach Spanish—we make it alive and interactive. Kids learn through games, adventures, and real-world experiences, from baking cookies in Spanish to exploring the traditions of different countries.
I’m most proud of seeing children develop confidence in a new language while genuinely having fun. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their curiosity and excitement grow each day.
Starting this business was not easy. I had to balance raising four kids, building a curriculum, and finding ways to make learning engaging and meaningful. Challenges came in the form of finding the right materials, developing a unique teaching approach, and gaining the trust of families. I overcame them by staying focused on my vision, constantly learning, and being willing to adapt and innovate.
The biggest lessons I’ve learned are that patience, creativity, and persistence are essential in both parenting and teaching. And that children thrive when they are actively engaged and feel supported.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that Culture Kids Spanish in Motion is more than a language program—it’s an experience. We are here to inspire a love of Spanish, a curiosity about the world, and the confidence to explore it fully. And as a mom raising bilingual kids myself, I truly believe this gives them—and our students—an incredible advantage in life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d plan a week packed with a mix of culture, food, nature, and a little adventure—Dallas-style!
Day 1: Start with brunch at Mercat Bistro in Uptown, then a stroll around the Dallas Arts District to check out the Nasher Sculpture Center and Dallas Museum of Art. Dinner at Fearing’s for some upscale Tex-Mex with a view.
Day 2: Explore Bishop Arts District—cute boutiques, coffee shops, and street art. Lunch at Lockhart Smokehouse for amazing barbecue. In the evening, catch live music at The Kessler Theater.
Day 3: Head outdoors to White Rock Lake for biking or paddleboarding. Picnic lunch by the water. Later, happy hour at The Cedars Social for cocktails and a relaxed vibe.
Day 4: A day trip to Fort Worth—visit the Sundance Square, Stockyards, and maybe a rodeo if timing is right. Dinner at Lonesome Dove Western Bistro.
Day 5: Foodie day in Dallas—start with brunch at HG Sply Co., then check out Dallas Farmers Market. Take a food tour to taste the city’s best tacos, BBQ, and pastries. Evening rooftop drinks at Parliament downtown.
Day 6: Adventure day—hike at Cedar Ridge Preserve and unwind with an outdoor picnic. Evening: comedy show at Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub or a jazz night at The Balcony Club.
Day 7: Wind down with a relaxing spa morning at Hiatus Spa + Retreat, lunch at Savor Gastropub, and a sunset walk at Klyde Warren Park. Cap the trip with a farewell dinner at Tei-An for Japanese cuisine in a chic setting.
For me, the best experiences are always a mix of good food, interesting neighborhoods, live music, and being outdoors. Dallas has a little bit of everything, and it’s even better when shared with friends who love to explore!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my children. Raising four kids has been my greatest school and inspiration—watching them grow into bilingual, curious, and resilient young people is what gave me the motivation to build Culture Kids Spanish in Motion.
I also owe a lot to my parents, who instilled in me the love for languages and culture early on. And of course, the families who trust me with their children’s learning journey deserve recognition too—without their support and encouragement, Culture Kids wouldn’t be what it is today.
