Meet Giovanni Cabrera | Visual Artist And Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanni Cabrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giovanni, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote which is my wallpaper right now on my phone is “Don’t strive to be well know. Strive to be worth knowing.” And what it means to me is to do right by others touch others lives in anyway you can. I give a piece of me to everybody I meet.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art comes from me and how I’m feeling. I’ve always had a hard time expressing myself growing up. So I picked up a camera and started expressing myself through photos. I want you to be able to feel the emotions from my work. I always want people to get something from my photos. What sets me apart is that I stay in my lane and I don’t compare myself to others I really just do what I feel. It wasn’t easy getting to where I’m at considering all the personal things I was going through why trying to create and chase a dream. A lot of people would have folded in my shoes and that’s forsure. I overcame all the challenges by running to them not running away from them like a lot of people do the only way is through. The lessons I learned along the way were very hard lessons man very very hard lessons. I’m never been perfect none of us have. We make mistakes but you have to learn from them if you don’t the universe and god will just keep tryna show you and the lesson will just get louder and louder until you finally realize. What I want the world to know about my brand is that my brand is me. It is a reflection of me it’s just genuinely me and everything I have been through.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t get out very much. But if someone asked me they wanted to party I would probably send them to deep ellum or uptown. I’m very simple I like to sip Lambrusco and enjoy good views by some water somewhere.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well first off I wanna shoutout to god because ever since I had a heartfelt prayer with tears and all and told him to lead me and I will follow things have been so much more better for me. God is good man and I encourage anyone who is lost to seek him and ask him to do the same for them. Other than him I have a couple creative friends that contribute to my success far as letting me shoot them and keep my mind in creative mode shout out to Artavius Cash, Adlen Jehari, Jhase Kennedy and Ofcourse Charles Xavier for recommending to you guys that’s love.
