We had the good fortune of connecting with Gerry D and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gerry, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Having a very niche podcast has been rewarding and challenging. Marketing and brand recognition is crucial for this medium. While social media ads have been helpful, the biggest contributing factor has been my numerous guest appearances on other shows.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The pandemic was the perfect time to start my show. I was a gigging musician, but the lockdown slowed me down quite a bit. I took the opportunity to start Totally Rad Christmas and build on the nostalgia prevalent during those times. While I had some prior experience with editing software, I really had to relearn everything since it had been so long.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a big fan of local dives, so we’d definitely hit up Jamaica Gates and Taco Regio in Arlington, Of course museums are a must as well. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History had an incredible exhibit on A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Decorator’s Warehouse is Texas’s #1 Christmas store!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Christmas Podcast Network has been very supportive and helpful. The elves of ‘Tis the Podcast in particular gave me advice on how to start my show, technical audio equipment, website development, merchandise production, etc.
