We had the good fortune of connecting with Geordian Abel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Geordian, what do you attribute your success to?
With Flourish in Frills I believe there are a couple moving parts that have lead to success this past year since we launched.
Authenticity- I try to be as real and raw as I can be with my customers on social media to where they feel like they know me on a personal basis and I am not just the sales girl or owner behind the brand.
Consistency- some weeks have been easier than others, but I have consistently showed up every single week and had the same routine.
Passion- I am extremely passionate about my business and serving our customers diligently which comes from wholeheartedly loving what I do.
What should our readers know about your business?
Flourish in Frills launched in the midst of a pandemic summer of 2020. I was working in corporate advertising sales for an influencer agency, running my blog and serving my customers for Flourish in Frills. Needless to say looking back I am not sure how I was running all three. Fast forward to November, 2020 I got laid off literally out of no where from my corporate job. Aside from the panic and anxiety that hit when my boss uttered the words “we are having to let you go” I saw it as an opportunity to finally pursue my side gigs full time…. something I had longed for since I was a junior in college when I launched my blog. I have always had the entrepreneur spirit, but am confident I would have never left my corporate jobs on my own to pursue my businesses. Let’s be real- I was comfortable and did not want to leave the steady paycheck behind. That was until The Lord’s plans unfolded so beautifully and perfectly.
This past year has not been easy. I have never worked harder in my life nor have I ever wanted something so badly. I have big dreams and goals for Flourish in Frills and am confident with a little grit, grace and Jesus I will be able to hopefully accomplish them. We are an online boutique that loves any and everything with a girly frills and wants to see our customers flourishing and feeling confident in their pieces along the way. I do not want to just be another online boutique. I want to be a brand that encourages women to chase their dreams, feel confident about the items their wearing (whether they’re from Flourish in Frills or not), and I want my customers to feel like we are long distance bffs and know me and my heart behind the brand.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To start, we would get a room and stay at my favorite Fort Worth spot, Hotel Drover, which is in the middle of the Stockyards. Throughout the week I would take her to some of my favorite Fort Worth restaurants and obviously do some shopping along the way. I was born and raised in the Fort Worth area so am very partial to Fort Worth vs Dallas when it comes to showing friends a good time!
Weekend Brunch: Gemelle, Press Cafe, Winslow’s
Lunch on a patio: Joe T Garcias (& sip a margarita while we wait in line), Rise, Tinies
Happy hour: Maggies R&R, Rancho Loma Vineyards, Atico, The Stockyard Saloon, Second Rodeo Brewing
Dinner: Wicked Butcher, Provender Hall, 97 West
Shopping: boutiques on Camp Bowie and The Shops at Clearfork for upscale stores
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, Austin, deserves every bit of recognition. He has supported me from day one when I started this entrepreneur journey with my blog, Adore More with Geor, 7 years ago. When I told him the summer of 2020 that I was going to finally start the online boutique I had dreamt about for years he did not think twice and asked how he could help. Austin is selfless and the backbone to Flourish in Frills. The man literally helps with every single moving piece and it’s not just because I ask him to help. He willingly helps because he believes in me and this business. Flourish in Frills would be non existent without his support. I always encourage my single friends to find a guy like Austin that will support their dreams and not hold them back. I might be biased, but I got the best of the best.
