We had the good fortune of connecting with Gena Tinsley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gena, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
There was a fire lit in my soul when I started SilentWatersBeautyCo. I have a purpose to create these products to help heal and impact a lot of people. When I feel like giving up, I think about all the work and dedication I’ve put into my business and to just give up? I couldn’t. I say never give up on something that was meant for you.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
SilentWatersBeautyCo was founded on the belief that Intentions are everything. I take pride in knowing that each product is made with the intentions to improve how we view our version of beauty. As a full time mother of 3 and running my own business it has definitely been challenging but I use my children as motivation. I’ve learned consistency is key to making this all work and putting the best you out there every time. I want to inspire people like me that it is possible to take control of your life and turn it into something amazing with hard work and pure intention no matter what your past holds. There’s always a way to overcome.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would recommend Deep Ellum and the Dallas Arts District. I’m more of a scenic kind of woman so the Arboretum would be another place then probably White Rock Lake for a late picnic. I’ll probably do most of the cooking but you can never go wrong with some Razzoos!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my Mom. She’s my backbone to making all of this possible! I’d also love to shoutout Ms. Patricia Williams for referring me for this interview! She’s been a great supporter and an inspiration to keep going.
