We had the good fortune of connecting with Gemma Bowen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gemma, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Discovering what I was passionate about, finding a niche in the space and then delivering high quality content consistently.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I am a content creator, variety Twitch broadcaster, visual architect & ambassador for women in the gaming space.

I started creating in The Sims 4 in 2020 at the start of the pandemic. I soon found that my passion for interiors & architecture could be explored by using the game as a rendering tool. I went on to study for a qualification in Interior Design so that I could apply trends and techniques to my builds.

I quickly discovered I had found a niche in the community where I could focus on real-life buildings, as well as recreating other game environments in The Sims 4.

I’ve had to push myself to try more challenging things because there are so many wonderfully talented creatives in the community.

My most successful work has been my Dragon Age Inquisition builds, which have been featured on gaming news websites such as PC Gamer, GameRant, GamesRadar & The Gamer.

People also have enjoyed my British Council Estate Series where I recreated social housing from the UK.

The Sims 4 is more than just a life simulation; it’s a tool for exploring your creativity & skills as a designer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
London is full of incredible locations, but my favourite places to visit are around the Shoreditch & Columbia Road areas. Little obscure pubs that are out of the way of the tourist trap. There are some great vintage shops too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The amazing creatives that I’ve met in the gaming space, as well as inspirational folks in both theGameHERs and Women In Games communities who, despite facing challenges and discrimination, continue to push for change, equality and inclusivity.
