We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Manson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabrielle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was actually pretty simple, I would offer my services to my friends when they would have big events like birthdays and baby showers. Everyone would comment how fast and how great the finished product looked, also people would suggest I should start my own business. Maybe a year went by and I was thinking of ways to launch my business once I got enough photos in my portfolio, and my Full Job was starting to slow down so I figured this was my sign to launch my business page and website on Instagram.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion for seeing the reaction of my clients faces after bringing their vision to life sets me apart from other balloon decorators. Making someones day is the best part of my business. But there are some different struggles you face as a balloon decorator, I never went to a workshop it was more of learn as I go. Knowing what supplies to use on different type of surfaces like textures walls, brick, wood etc. What won’t damage someone’s wall in their home after taking the balloons down, learning balloons oxide when outdoors and the products to use so they can shine like new again. Once you have all of that down its smooth sailing, but trust me I learn something new everyday in my line of business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first we would visit AT&T Discover District we love trying new places, so we’ll look for a sushi or ramen spot inside The Exchange. Walk around and see the new art, drive over to Deep Ellum and grab an ice shot at Federales it’s always a fun crowd inside there. We also have to end with a good dessert so we have to search for a good local ice cream shop that has great reviews of course. Bishop arts isn’t to far and they have a great ice cream shop called Melt!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
No one specifically just all the other balloons decorator’s that have a successful business, they gave me the confidence to get out there and show my talents as well. They don’t compete with one another a lot of them like to collaborate with each when they confirm bigger jobs, that’s the type if industry I like being in. Where everyone supports each other.
