We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabrielle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Without taking risks, there will never be a reward. Most things that we really want out of life are things that do not come easy. Launching a brand was and is still one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Everyone on the outside only sees the final product, not the late nights, stressful deadlines and the dedication that it took to make my dreams a reality. I simply wouldn’t have done it any other way though, taking this risk has taught me how to handle rejection, pick myself back up and continue to work hard even when the easier option would be to quit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started Saint Akir Jewelry with just a few hundred dollars to my name and a dream of creating an entire brand for people who want to stand out and in their power. I launched my brand at the peak of COVID and I had no idea what the outcome would be. Nothing about this process was easy, being one person running and doing the job of an entire team sometimes causes burn out. I’ve learned that when facing burnout, the best way to overcome it is to rest and reset! By the end of the year, I would like to add more things to my brand, the 3 c’s ; Crystals, Clothes and Candles. Aside from my brand, I have also been writing and recording a ton of music, and I am planning on releasing an EP in the late summer! I am so excited to share everything with the whole world, but I still know to take everything a day at a time!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was visiting Dallas, our first stop would be Earls in Legacy West for the best Cheddar Bacon Burger in town. We would head to highland village after that for some afternoon shopping and classic people watching. At night, I enjoy going to uptown or deep ellum for some good club fun or maybe bar hop in the Bishop Arts District.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to everyone who has helped me along the way, i wouldn’t have the best pieces of me without you! Thank you, Kire Davis for pushing me to go to the studio, write music and teaching me to hold myself accountable, you gave me the extra push i needed. Thank you, Sara Eberle for taking all the photos of my jewelry for my launch and always being my biggest cheerleader. Thank you to every single person who has ever ordered and faithfully wears Saint Akir, it means the world to me! Thank you to MGW for always helping me see the bigger picture of everything. Also, shout out to the most perfect little boy in the entire world, my son, JJ for always being the ray of sunshine even on the cloudiest day!
