We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriella Stella, and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriella, what makes you happy? Why?
Music gives me true happiness that I can’t get from anything else. It allows me to truly express my feelings. Music is a universal language and truly just based on emotions. It’s a great way to decipher how a person is and what they are all about.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of my feature in Rolling Stone India due to my song “Dirty Laundry”. It was incredible to be featured in a magazine company I have read for years. This industry is truly a marathon and not a sprint so its been a long journey. I started singing when I was around 7 years old. I fell in love with “Hannah Montana” and once the singing bug got me; it was over with. I wanted my mom to sign me up for anything and everything to become a better musician. I started taking piano lessons, guitar lessons, songwriting classes, performance technique, etc. It hasn’t been an easy road whether its from mental health or health issues. I was recently diagnosed with an immune disorder and its been rough. I have had symptoms my whole life and it has effected different aspects. I have myself on a regime of different medications to keep it at bay with care from my doctors. I have learned that your body is a temple and you truly have to treat it as such. I am working on the mental side of things too. It’s easy to beat yourself up and let that voice talk to you poorly. My brand is about being vulnerable with whatever struggles I am facing. It’s important to be honest and I don’t want others to feel alone.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love an area called “Deep Ellum” and its apart of the city in Dallas. It has such great energy to it and constantly has music playing throughout it. You get to hear all sorts of different genres and styles in one walk. You can take a minute to enjoy by going to a local bar and finding an upcoming band. It’s a great way to connect into new upcoming artists and discovering ones you never would other wise.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout my friends and family. They have seen me at my highs and have carried me through my lows. I am very lucky to have people support my dreams. Thank you to my mom in specifics for driving me to auditions, singing lessons, guitar lessons, performances, etc. She has taken me everywhere in order to make this dream that I have come true.
