We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabby Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabby, how do you think about risk?
Taking risk are so important I’m my career. You have to take risks everyday in order to grow! I recently just took a big risk switching salons and it was the best decision ever! With doing hair you have to take risks everyday because you never know how your clients hair will take color and you just have to trust your gut it will work out, which it almost always does!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a hairstylist in Denton TX as Soho salon. I love doing vivids, blondes and creative cuts. I’m LGBTQ+ and gender neutral friendly. I want each and everyone one of my clients to feel special sitting in my chair. I got to where I am today by hard work and definitely to my passion of hair! I’ve had many downfalls such as mental and physical illnesses, I’ve overcome them and they have made me the stylist I am today.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to vinal lounge in Denton! It is a disco bar that super fun mf has karaoke on sundays! The vibes there are immaculate..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes, my boss Millie Luster. She is so supportive and helpful to me. She always listens to my needs and is a crest problem solver. My friends and family have always been my biggest supporters as well.
