We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Harvey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frank, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I feel like if God gives you a gift and you don’t use it, that’s a disservice to him, yourself, and the people that you can bless by doing what you’re meant to do.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Growing up, I knew that I had a talent for fashion and putting different styles together that look good. I just didn’t know how to express these desires in full besides dressing nice myself. I started off my brand with graphics that were created by another graphic designer. He created what I wanted on paper but it never fully expressed the ideas that I really wanted. I then started learning how to use different programs like photoshop and illustrator so I could be able to make my thoughts digital. Some of my most basic designs have made the most success and I’d say they have because I could control the whole creative process now.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d say one of my best trips was going to the Project Show in Las Vegas. It was a twofer for me because I went to study different brands that were selling and displaying their items to major retailers from all over the world, and it was great to walk the strip and see different people from all walks of life. There’s so much money in one little area and it’s very exciting and eye opening.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a special shoutout to my parents, they were my first and best role models. I’ve seen my Mother juggle 3 jobs at a time and I’ve seen my Father become a successful business owner from the ground up. In regards to fashion, I gain much of my inspiration from creators like Virgil Abloh, Ye, Kool Kiy, Ralph Lauren, and Dapper Dan.
