We had the good fortune of connecting with Felipe Rosaels and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felipe, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say the most important factors behind our success have been three-fold: being genuine, being kind, and supporting our fellow musicians. Our live show is one that some would describe as cheesy, but it’s a genuine representation of who we are. When you are unabashedly yourself, the right people will connect with you and that has led us to create relationships that are honest and fulfilling. I strive to be kind in all aspect of the band because I feel that is such an important quality to bring to any industry. It can be easy to fall into the cut-throat aspects of live music, so we do our best to avoid that. Lastly, we just love the people we get to share stages with and do our best to be their advocates as well.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art that me and my band create is quite an interesting intersection. My love of ska, hip-hop, pop-punk, and hardcore all blend into this crazy cocktail of high energy and sincerity. Add to that my background as a music educator and you get elements that aren’t often found in the typical live music setting like folk dancing and sing-a-longs. What I’ve been most proud of is the extreme honor of being somone’s first ska show. My first ska show growing up was truly formative and literally changed the course of my life. The fact that we get to be a small part of someone’s musical journey is awe-inspiring and not something we take lightly. Over the years, we’ve been able to be that for so many people and that is an aspect of my band I am truly proud of. So if you need a pick me up or something fresh in your life, come see us!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is an easy one! First, we’d go to all my favorite local spots to dine like 2 Compas, Bethany’s, El Cucuy Burritos, and Mad Mike’s Ice Creams. Then we’d hit up my favorite concert spots like Division Brewing, Three Links, The Free Man, and Cave’s. Lastly, we’d do some video game stuff like going to Free Play, Nerdvana, The National Video Game Museum, Cidercade, and Game Theory! Man, I might just do all this myself haha!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this to my wife who is a constant support, my various mentors and teachers who helped me get to this point, my band mates who help me live my dream one show at a time, and all my family who always have my back!
