We had the good fortune of connecting with Faizon Burns and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Faizon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking actually makes me learn exactly what to do and what not to do. Taking risk has made me learn way faster in my career as a photographer with me being the introvert I am it makes things exciting.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My Personal Projects are mostly Dark and mysterious which sets me apart from most. I’m excited about the opportunities in store for me in the future and proud to say my work is catching attention. It all started in high school when I realized taking pictures of people and their reactions of how good they were was a hint I should take it further and probably start saving for a camera, then I discovered how expensive camera gear like literally an arm and a leg for just the camera body, so that was my biggest issue was financials. I’ve learned to be patient with photography and models cause everything doesn’t go as planned. I would like for people to know that my brand as a photographer isn’t focused on one thing i hate to put myself in a box and I’m all around learning different things and hope no one puts themselves in a box to please others, Its your brand and not theirs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I usually do a breakfast or brunch depending on the time everyone wakes up at this place called “Yolk” wonderful breakfast spot then normally cruise and hang out around downtown Dallas then go to the Galleria mall and do some shopping then head home and get ready for a a night of bar hopping on 7th street. Not much of an opinion about places in Dallas I just kind of enjoy the moment wherever I’m at.
